My office secured nearly $17 million from DoorDash for cheating delivery workers out of their hard-earned pay.

I'm reminding all eligible DoorDash delivery workers to file a claim now to get their money back before the deadline on December 31, 2025.

You know that feeling you get where you look at the state of the world and want to scream and break things? Yeah, that one. That's probably actually the rational, sane response.

In my opinion, the irrational; insane thing is letting societal expectations stop us doing it because "that's not nice".

Not even just saying the quiet part out loud anymore. They've climbed a tree with a megaphone.
it should probably be a bigger story that the richest man on earth and leading Republican is a fucking Nazi

media needs to stop beating around the bush. this is Nazi shit.

Minimum parking requirements create financially insolvent land use patterns.

The two apartment buildings on the right generate six times more in property taxes than the big box store on the left, while occupying almost half the space!

Probably one of the lowest-effort things I think rail advocates can do is talk casually about trains around other people. You would be shocked how many people live in a town with an active freight main who don't know that the tracks go to every place they usually do.

Every single congressional Democrat needs to be out there, right now, insisting that Pete Hegseth resign right now and announcing that he will be held accountable for committing war crimes.

If you do not demand accountability here and now, they will only become more emboldened.
Exclusive: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth gave an order to “kill everybody” in the first strike on suspected drug boats in the Caribbean. After two men survived, the mission commander ordered a second strike to comply with Hegseth’s instructions, according to two sources.
Hegseth order on first Caribbean boat strike, officials say: Kill them all
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth issued a verbal order to kill all crew members in the Sept. 2 strike on a suspected drug boat. Navy SEALs fired a second missile.

I am firmly of the opinion that there are a lot of folks with drivers licenses that should not have them.

Driving from Sacramento to Chico today, IN FOG, I was continuously passed aggressively by people tailgating and speeding. Every other driver was chewing on another's bumper.

Personally I think it should be illegal for bike/scooter-share companies to have their workers park devices at public racks. There are so many places in #sacramento that I like to ride my bicycle to only to arrive and struggle to find a space to park as every rack is filled with Lime scooters.

The thing most likely to turn me into the fucking Joker is the fact that all of this shit works but we don't do it in the USA because a tiny group of noisy and unqualified people just say "but it won't work here" and our politicians just go "well, I guess they must know what they're talking about"
In the Netherlands, over 40% of rail passengers arrive by bike. Since 2012 the country has invested €400m+ to add 200,000 new bike parking spaces at stations. The result? More rail use, fewer car trips, lower congestion and emissions, better public health - and far more efficient use of urban space.

I cannot stress this enough.

We do not need any of this.

We got on FINE even in the tech age WITHOUT ANY OF THIS

The only things in your home that need microphones are your phone and your webcam and NONE OF IT should have an "opinion"
Up next: all the crappy devices being infused with ChatGPT and other chatbots.

The last thing you want is for your nieces and nephews to have “sensual” chats with an AI teddy bear or your grandpa losing his mind because he’s spent hours talking to an AI “friend.”

It's baffling that we allow private companies to use public infrastructure as their R&D lab, externalizing the risk onto the public, while they fine tune their unproven software.

I like this. Do this.
Journalist challenge: Use “Machine Learning” when you mean machine learning and “LLM” when you mean LLM. Ditch “AI” as a catch-all term, it’s not useful for readers and it helps companies trying to confuse the public by obscuring the roles played by different technologies. 🧪

We also need electeds and policymakers at the helm who truly understand the role rail plays in solving almost every single major crisis facing Californians today. The current rail plan is great compared to previous plans but it's only a starting point. We need to be faster and more ambitious!

🚄💨
Not only is 3% of CA's transportation budget for transit agencies, the vast majority of that huge Caltrans budget supports highway projects - while rail gets the scraps. We need a #JustTransitionForCaltrans that shifts those workers into delivering green rail projects quickly and cost effectively.
