Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.

The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.

Labor has brushed aside concerns over the social media ban. But what if it doesn’t work as promised?
If Meta, the world’s biggest social media company, expects problems after a year of preparation, then what should the rest of us be expecting?

This is bad. The lack of “AI literacy” is disturbing, but this also is the direct result of purposeful design choices and claims by AI companies. They need AI to be a “revolutionary tech” to keep the money coming in and user interaction for data monetization.
I’m getting more and more of these too. It’s depressing.
I am by no means a prominent public intellectual, but my inbox is increasingly filled with messages from people who have been convinced by sycophantic chatbots that they have discovered revolutionary theories that entirely upend our scientific understanding of the universe.

As an AI expert, people ask me all the time whether AI will end the world. No, AI is the distraction. Humans are perfectly capable of endangering our own existence. It is people that kill other people. Always. People like to blame AI for misinformation, but it stems from humans.

Why a bunch of Senators who are retiring are leading the negotiations is something to really think on
I don't know what the Senate is going to do. But if they do in fact fold in exchange for nothing, they will be living up to past performance. To expect the Senate to carry out the will of the American people is to misunderstand why it was created in the first place.
