I saw someone describe the performance as “aggressive” (laudatory) and I very much feel that. It is joy with a full set of teeth, a self-possession that waters down none of the pain and anger that exists alongside laughter and love.

Truly exquisite.
Benito is a threat b/c he makes art so alluring and enjoyable you want to understand everything about it and then you end up learning about sugar and slavery and colonialism and the Taínos and Hawaii and then you probably have some thoughts of your own, and that's why art is powerful and dangerous

There are many emergency management agency emails about the incoming storm. Many, many notifications.

High wind, heavy rain, flash flooding, maybe some thunderstorms.

Stay dry, everyone.

Good write-up from @planetarysociety.bsky.social on the budget bill that passed Congress, explaining what space science has gained and lost, and which projects appear to be funded for FY26 (including Uranus, HabWorlds, & contributions to international missions).

Here's what Congress rejected of the draconian cuts faced by NASA in FY 2026.

No power or WiFi internet at home. Doing Laura Ingalls Wilder things.

Sitting in a rocking chair and watching the trees bend and sway, bushes rustle, and birds navigate gusts of wind. Listening to the howl of wind around the edges of the house.

Here is a video of a frozen creek that had begun to thaw, and the water was flowing beneath the thin ice on top. I took this because it was soothing and wonderfully bloopy and I wanted to listen to it for hours. You are all welcome to enjoy it, too. Let your brain settle here and rest for a moment.

Sunrise did something spectacular this morning. High altitude clouds in all directions reflected the changing colors of the sunrise across the whole sky. Too in awe of the moment to take a pic. (Wouldn’t have done it justice anyway.) You’ll just have to believe my jaded ass thought it was amazing.

Oh, hello new (old, unused) muscles! Nice to hear from you after a workout with my PT yesterday.

Shoulders so tight now that I’ve lost a bit of L-R neck rom. Guess I’ll be trying to ease that out this morning...

THREAD.

My parents' cat Bridget vanished. As the weeks dragged on they became ever more worried, so to distract himself my dad began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time and popping up at some of art & music's most important moments.

I've collected his work here...
