My friend just pulled me up on using the phrase “slid into my DMs”, saying I’m too old. I’m devastated. What am I supposed to say instead? “Gentleman caller left his card”? “Received an unexpected missive”? Turns out no argument ends well when you’re sobbing “but I AM young.”

Yeah I’m three years late but I’ve been binge-watching Slow Horses from series 1. Just reached series 3 and in terms of character development: Gary Oldman’s just flashed his stained y-fronts and Jack Lowden’s got a lovely new beard. I very much approve of one of these things.

It feels worth mentioning that Graham Linehan’s harassment literally continued in the courtroom, as he repeatedly misgendered Sophia, and referred to her as “Tarquin”, a fictional deadname he made up for her as part of his harassment campaign. The judge was complicit in this harassment happening.
I wonder if I spent all day, every day, for years, calling Graham Linehan - or the judge - a nonce and then, when I saw him in the street screamed it in his face and smashed his phone, would a judge find I had done no harassing?
And that's not even factoring in the age of his victim

Had a brilliant day at work - finally nailed the project that’s been causing late nights and lost weekends. Genuinely buzzing. Also my AirPods didn’t connect so I played Blink-182 at full volume to the entire office. It’s a game of two halves innit.

Melbourne Comedy Festival pretty much costs the same for a punter as Edinburgh these days. Yes, 24 hours wedged in a flying tin can to get there, but at least you’re not taking out a second mortgage to stay at a haunted Ibis. In case anyone was doing any absolutely theoretical comparisons.

The people who make Shein's clothes labor for ten to twelve hours per day (in violation of China's labor laws), some up to seven days a week, and earn as little as 15 to 30 cents per t-shirt.

She is in an alleyway, where a dozen people are huddled around a row of bulletin boards.
They are reading the job ads on the board, while examining the stitching on a pair of chinos draped over it.
This is Shein's supply chain. The factories are contracted to make clothes on order - some small, some big. If the chinos are a hit, orders will ramp up and so must production. Factories then hire temporary workers to meet the demand their permanent staff cannot fulfil.
The migrant worker from Jiangxi is looking for a short-term contract - and the chinos are an option.
"We earn so little. The cost of living is now so high," she says, adding that she hopes to make enough to send back to her two children who are living with their grandparents.
"We get paid per piece," she explains. "It depends how difficult the item is.
