Had a fairly interesting life, did some stuff, went some cool places, made some things, and now I'm old.
Funny how that works...

I was fortunate enough to have successfully bred a pair of Orchid mantises. This nymph was one of their offspring, which I sold along with the hundreds of others. 🍀💲

The ACLU dropped its lawsuit against the Trump admin today after HHS quietly restored tens of millions in family planning funds to Planned Parenthood and other health clinics at the end of December.

It appears I'm not the only politically-minded person who's not on here much

Feels a bit empty here to be honest

This whole issue needs to be addressed honestly and in good faith

But in America now we just ban things and hurt people

My second wife has serious and painful condition and can not even get in for the scan needed to diagnose and won't until the end of this month

Which will be about two months after she sought treatment

For the last 100 years, the US has been involved in a regime change in Latin America every 28 months on average. The “Donroe Doctrine” is not a new thing. But Trump knows nothing about history.

Since I gave up streaming (Amazon) I'm watching a lot of local sub-channels

Even with a DVR the advertising is brutal - massive social engineering just to suck more money out of us peons

Not an accident it's being shoved into every available space because it's also about *control*

Turn it off

the one silver lining of Bari’s tenure at CBS is that she is Very Online and she knows exactly how much we mock everything she does

keep it up, folks
Sources: Bari Weiss has privately been deeply frustrated by the negative reaction to her CBS tenure and has blamed subordinates for not stanching the criticism (New York Times)

This approach combines 3D printing, silicone molding and a UV-curable clear resin to fabricate lenses for super-resolution imaging: https://bit.ly/4jzmgOw

Each lens costs less than USD1 to produce, which could broaden access to fully customizable optical parts and enable new imaging tools.

KBJ is saying they're setting up new barriers to as-applied challenges.

This is important because the Republicans have already made it hard to make facial challenges to laws. If they make it harder to bring as-applied challenges, guess what, there's no way to challenge red-state laws.

For today's horribles: the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on banning trans athletes. It's the most bigoted thing they'll do this term. I'll be jotting down my thoughts here.

China is now the leading clean energy powerhouse with the West falling behind.

The transition is inevitable; the key question is where and how fast it happens.

I look forward to discussing this in Davos next week at the World Economic Forum, facilitating a live-streamed session on electrostates.

I was a freshman at Georgia Tech on a 2-meal-a-day plan so for supper I'd chow down on a chili cheese burger at the Varsity and watch Batman on one of their round-screen color TVs

Still taste the burger (they were intense) even now any time that old show comes to mind LOL
An impressively creative & funny show, much like Pee Wee’s Playhouse, with famous guest stars. Eartha Kitt played one of the Catwoman characters, so you know it was dope.

You can better understand any political party's position on any issue, by first understanding whose interests they are trying to protect.

As a rule of thumb, it's never going to be yours.

Iranians hate living in a brutal theocracy enough that the UN says 2,000 of them have died protesting it

Some might say they're making us look like we don't care as long a the lights stay on
I am in awe of the bravery of the Iranian people, who are standing up for their freedom against a brutal regime and decades of authoritarian, theocratic rule.

If you had any illusions about top Democrats not being compromised...

Their new way to defeat the orange thing is to focus on "affordability"

Not a fascist, Russian backed couup

Not the orange pedophile mob boss in the Oval

This is a deathblow to Tesla in Europe, where it benefits the least from this deal, while big rivals can open the floodgates:

Tariffs on made-in-China EVs on top of the 10% standard duty:

Tesla: 7.8%
BYD: 17.0%
Geely: 18.8%
BMW: 20.7%
VW: 20.7%
