Oh damn! How did I miss that! Let's fucking go

Me @ Ajax the Invincible: "I mean, that's pretty cool."
Me @ random hedge witches who are not very good at magic: "HELL YEA, MORE OF THIS."

Then again, maybe they're holding onto that card for their upcoming game CROWS. That would make sense, as Pinna is not very heroic.

What is not reasonable is losing a perfectly good failgirl character. In the era of Marcille being a fan fave, that would be a crime.

You may be thinking: Cassandra why do you care so much about this random NPC

simple: she is a witch with imposter syndrome, and that's funny and also my favourite brand of character

besides, I know MCDM hasn't forgotten her, she's the profile picture for the MCDM bsky account!

You know, I'm very happy with the Draw Steel books, and the Delian Tomb adventure. But there's something missing.

We have so many recurring characters who have made a return in from the MCDM cinematic universe...except for one

MCDM answer me this: where is Pinna
A freckled ginger girl with long, curly hair in maroon-coloured robes and a matching pointy witch hat which flops down to one side, in classic fashion. She has a polite yet slightly anxious smile, and her hand is touching a double-terminated pale-green crystal on a string around her neck. The same ginger-haired witch leaning down with a wand in hand to produce a small puff of pastel-coloured magic, to the awe of a young girl in a green peasant dress, and a very excitable dog. This scene takes place against the backdrop of a busy, bustling marketplace.

Behold, the writing team of Twelve Realms!

I'm so lucky! I tried to count the accolades/awards they collectively have and I lost track. I'll try another time.

Help us to get to 1K followers so we can make this game and these folks can get to writing!

Holy shit maybe I gave up on WoT too soon

Thinking about a trans-inclusive fantasy world that is also misogynistic

Sailor: "Captain, I've been thinking, and I really want you to call me Ivy, rather than Ivan, if you could."
Captain: "Aye, of course, Ivy." *draws pistol* "But as ye know, women on ships are ill luck. Get ye to the plank."

She's just a weirdo who lives in the Hivelands (it's exactly what it sounds like)

Holy shit, the "fucked" condition wasn't a joke. There it is. Beautiful.

regular reminder that the people who created your favorite characters were largely marginalized individuals with antifascist views

Less is more for an indie. If you can write 10 levels of really really good class features, or 20 levels of half-assed class features, the former will make a way bigger impact.

WotC only had 10 levels of good class features when they wrote 5e, and it led to a T3/T4 experience that felt half-assed.

And considering how many RPGs have the expectation baked in that the GM is the only one who needs to understand the rules, in many cases the other players won't even realize a rule has changed! They could play for years before someone points it out to them.
theicequeer.bsky.social
If I think a rule in a board game we're playing is stupid and bad, I have to query the room, we have to discuss the effects of that rule, what might become imbalanced without it, and establish consensus.

If a GM thinks a rule is bad in the game they're running, well...they just change it.
theicequeer.bsky.social
*sweating nervously* no one, haha, yes

in seriousness, my regular board gaming group has a number of house rules we use for certain board games, so I don't think this is a uniquely RPG thing. But the RPG expectation that the rules are refereed by a single person does make it easier to ignore rules.

I've had to repeat, often, the mantra of "I'm not designing for those people."

"But what if someone interprets this in bad faith to cheat?"
"I'm not designing for those people."
theicequeer.bsky.social
Ok but god I wish progressives could just say "I don't like when this happens in conversation" instead of couching it in progressive language.

It's not ableist to have a mismatch of expectations in conversation, that's what talking to people is like XD

Fuck you. This was brilliant. I hated it. It's perfect.

I was next to (one of) the AI slop booths at DragonCon and all I got was this lousy t-shirt.
So, as you may or may not know, there was a booth selling AI slop images printed on acrylic panels at DragonCon. They were in booth a-10. I was in a-11. Here’s what happened from my perspective.
Image of a skeet of a picture of a table with a sign on it that says “vendor removed for selling AI art”

I also hope you’re making something cool in September. Might I humbly suggest some leveled treasure for Draw Steel?
