Aspiring writers are always so worried that someone is going to "steal their idea" and I'm like my friend, my colleague, my spring hatchling, that is like leaving cans of paint on your porch and worrying that someone will paint your house
I've had a few 'what do you do' convs recently, and everyone on hearing I'm an author comes out with "so how do you come up with ideas?", just like every book or movie about a writer has them staring numbly into space because they don't have an idea for the next book. And look, that is Not It.

Nobody asked, but:

I think the biggest pitfall of sci-fi/fantasy storytelling, especially for worldbuilders, in the infodump.

You're (rightfully) just so proud of all the work you put into creating a cohesive setting that you just wanna PUKE it all over readers/watchers on page one.

And that's when you really start making art
I think most artists hit a point where they’re like, well if I can’t be the best artist, I shall be the most ME artist.

One huge eyeopener for me has been how many people apparently believe everyone else would excuse sex trafficking if someone they liked committed it
"What if one of YOUR favorite politicians/celebrities/etc is on the list?" Did you all not notice how quickly we dropped Neil Gaiman when we found out about the things he did? Do you know how beloved that guy used to be and how loathed he is now? I think that right there should answer your question.

Hey so “underage girls” are…children. The word you’re looking for is children. They’re not like, women-in-waiting or women-lite or whatever. They’re children. I think some of you are very uncomfortable with what that means for you but it is still true.

In Super Mario Galaxy, the stars on the letters of the logo spell "u r mr gay", while for the movie it says "he mr gay". This is because you are watching Mario, not playing him.

once again thinking about Dr. Gay Hitler

Consider what a difference it would make to everyone if this was inverted
Pretty much all affordability discourse could benefit from just posting this chart.

If you're in the better off America, all the luxury goods you want in excess are for the most part much cheaper. If you're in the poorer America, most of the shit you need to live/grow is more expensive.
