Okay listen, I had a hard time ranking animals/Manfred above actual companions cause it kinda felt rude, even though I fucking love Manfred. Also, I tended to hard bond to about 2 companions per game and care very little for the rest, which is why theres so many ties xD

Much of the hand wringing, imo, is over a critic explicitly saying they are judging the moral fabric of a piece of art because of the tools used to create it and it’s making some folks feel uncomfortable and shamed. The people who feel that way should sit with that feeling.

I'm opening Outer Worlds 2 for the first time and I'm just tickled that they actually included an explanation of what generating shaders is all about?? I don't think any studio has bothered to do this to this point, it just became accepted that big games have to do this thing. I love it.

Btw, last year I watched the Golden Joystick Awards and they actually let all of their winners on stage to talk and let Ben Starr, as the host, talk about the tough things going on in the industry instead of fluffing over them like Geoff the industry bootlicker does

This is really important. I know Pennsylvania is another state that you have to be registered one or the other to vote in primaries. Independents cannot vote in them. Texas is the opposite. If you're registered independent you get to pick which primary ticket you vote on. Know your state's systems!

From what I understand, they think they need to use AI voices for the pinging system, you know so they dont have to pay VAs to record new lines when they add stuff to the game.

Idk how else to say this other than we literally cannot save everyone from their own stupid decisions. Part of protecting true artists/being an ally to them is accepting that people who threw in their lot with AI in anyway are going to have bad things happen to them when the bubble pops
my hot AI take is that regardless of how we feel about it, bailing out the big AI companies may be *necessary* to avoid long-term systemic harm to real people
