That’s not what he’s saying at all. He’s saying Gavin has proven his support in other contexts (much like Obama, not supporting gay marriage in 08 but was trusted by swaths of the gay community anyway) and is strategically moderating for a national run. I *disagree* but conflict is not abuse.

I don’t think elevating one of the highest profile anti-trans democrats is a good way to unite the base around it tho :/ I see your point, and I’d vote for Newsom in a general. But why would I vote for him over someone like Pritzker in a primary?

Yea we’re not a monolith, neither of us are trans women. And he’s fucking THEM over. And we need to stand in solidarity with them because our rights are dependent on us standing together as a coalition. We cannot and should not abandon any of us.

I just signed legislation requiring student ID cards in public middle schools, high schools, and colleges to include the Trevor Project’s crisis and suicide prevention hotline.

1. Last night, 26 Senate Dems helped pass a NDAA containing a military trans sports and surgery ban and dropped demands for protections against US troop deployments in the bill.

It is the latest in the national fight over must-pass bills during the shutdown.

I believe in pragmatic voting but it is NOT the time to trivialize or dismiss the way democrats have turned against trans people. Maybe instead of bashing trans folks your time would be better spent lobbying democrats to stand by their base.

I think the Supreme Court and its defenders try to deny this blatant bias toward Trump by highlighting distinctions between cases—oh, you don't understand, student loan forgiveness was illegal while impoundment is permissible because [reasons]. But the big picture tells an undeniably damning story.
