I also just want to let y'all know she's a dope human who does dope stuff and we should be so lucky as to have her guidance at the Fed
Lisa Cook is a brilliant economist who belongs on the Federal Reserve.

Trump's attempt to fire her is a baseless, unlawful, and anti-Black power grab that threatens Fed independence.

The Supreme Court must uphold the law and rein in this unprecedented abuse of power.
Breaking News: The Supreme Court seems poised to reject President Trump’s bid to immediately remove Lisa Cook from the Federal Reserve Board, with key justices expressing concern about undermining the longstanding independence of the central bank.

The annual call for @nber.org nominations has been released, so if you're a researcher hoping to become affiliated, reach out to existing affiliates to get nominated.

If you're an existing affiliate, advocate for talented researchers, particularly those with networks not already full of NBER folks.

Lisa Cook is not a politician. That makes this list worse.
Democratic politicians facing frivolous criminal investigations from Trump:

Kat Abughazaleh
Elissa Slotkin
Jason Crow
Tim Walz
Jacob Frey
Letitia James
Lisa Cook
Mark Kelly
Eric Swalwell
Adam Schiff
Two days ago it was Elissa Slotkin. Last week it was Jerome Powell. Before that, Mark Kelly. Weaponizing the justice system against your opponents is an authoritarian tactic.

The only person not being investigated for the shooting of Renee Good is the federal agent who shot her.

I'm with Ben Edelman here. The lawsuit documents appear to focus on what was odd in HBS' review of his candidacy. Not sure you can learn about your own tenure process from reading this. (And always better to write something or teach someone than to worry about the process.)
So junior faculty are always wanting more information on the tenure process, and we usually can’t give them more than advice. Whatever else is happening in Edelman v. Harvard, the documents are a window on this. www.edelman-v-harvard.org/documents/

One part of racial segregation missing from modern social science research is dehumanization. For example, Black people were not allowed into car dealerships, lest they touch the new cars. My uncle (colorfully) describes that here: greenbookproject.osu.edu #GreenBookProject #CommunityMap

Recommend both the highlights and the video of the panel. Economic measurement is a big deal.
This was a great panel, and if you care about economic data, you should definitely listen to the whole thing.

But for those of you who would rather get some highlights, here's what I found most interesting: 🧵
ICYMI: Here's video of the panel -- "The State of Government Economic Statistics" -- that I moderated at the ASSA meetings. Karen Dynan, William Beach, Loretta Mester, Seth Carpenter, and Jed Kolko www.aeaweb.org/webcasts/202...
