Just as everyone predicted with the exception of Donald Trump, Scott Bessent, Howard Lutnick, and Kevin Hassett. The last 3 knew they’ve been lying, not sure with Orange Caligula because he’s a moron and a liar so in his case it could be either one or both.

BREAKING — ChongLy Scott Thao's family has released a statement disputing DHS's outrageous justification for his arrest.

"He does not live with, nor has he ever lived with, the individuals DHS claims were targets of this operation...[the family] does not know the individuals DHS references."

The worst politicians in America are about to quote Martin Luther King Jr.

You can’t quote “I have a dream” on MLK Day then legislate against that dream every other day of the year.

The US has reduced its presence in Greenland to a single base and less than 200 troops.

If Russia were an imminent threat, Washington could simply deploy more forces tomorrow under the existing defense treaty.

Trump is just inventing a security crisis to justify an annexation

This is why so many of us in academia don’t care how many “good” uses of AI you can show us. Maybe one day things will be different. But, along with enabling cheating & undermining pedagogy, the current commercial technologies on offer are criminal enterprises stealing from us & breaking the law.

It is a giant illegal plagiarism machine monetizing all of our intellectual property, & like every tech/finance grift before it, the business model is built on breaking the law & malfeasance. And the rush of university leaders & administrators to embed it in every aspect of our work is shameful.

The key point here is mass deportations are unpopular *in the abstract.* Marquette poll finds 56% oppose removing longtime residents w/job and no criminal record.

To achieve the scale Trump/Miller want, you *have to* target those people. The core policy is what's toxic in addition to ICE's conduct.
I'm glad Douthat admits the public is turning against Trump's ICE raids, but he undersells this. The mass deportations aren't just unpopular because ICE agents are terrorizing and killing people. The core underlying goal is itself unpopular, as I try to argue here:

PS - constraint doesn't look like "more money for body cameras and de-escalation training and binkies and foot rubs" or whatever shit @booker.senate.gov and other flaccid Surrender Dems are proposing.
Gallego: "We cannot vote for anything that actually adds more money and doesn't constrain ICE ... we cannot keep funding this type of goon squad"
