We’ve all worked with people like this: they fuck up, and blame anyone else, no matter how ridiculous. Except in most jobs the stakes aren’t so high 😳😳😳

BRENNAN: CBS confirmed the Trump administration rescinded the layoffs of CDC scientists. Some were involved with the federal measles response. How does a mistake like this happen?

Sens. Schumer, Merkley, Murray, and Peters are calling for the resignation of OMB Director Russell Vought.

"By impounding billions of dollars … and aggressively pursuing the illegal use of pocket rescissions, Vought has done everything in his power to gut the federal government piece by piece."

The Trump administration wants us to believe that they are all-powerful forces who control everything and can be reined in by neither Congress nor the Supreme Court, but if anything goes wrong, it's Mastermind Chuck Schumer's fault.

The deportation order is based on Vedam’s conviction for murder—a crime he did not actually commit and for which he’s now been wholly exonerated. He entered the US at 9 months old and was a legal permanent resident before his conviction. We are so, so, so far from the light of justice.

After spending 43 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit, evidence hidden by the prosecution reversed his conviction. Rather than finally enjoying freedom, ICE abducted him for deportation

If James visits the home regularly then it is available to her for personal use, which means it is not a “rental investment property” as defined by the mortgage rider…and therefore negates the central claim of the indictment

NYT reports that Letitia James’s great niece lives in the home that is the subject of the indictment.

The niece reportedly testified before a *different* grand jury, telling them that she had lived there for many years without paying rent. James visits regularly.

But in June, IMs. Thompson testified to a grand
jury in Norfolk that she had lived in the house for years and that she did not pay rent, a person familiar with her testimony said. She was not asked to testify again, and the grand jury that voted to indict Ms. James was not seated in Norfolk, but in Alexandria.
The specter of Mr. Trump's revenge campaign has so far overshadowed the facts of the case, given how he has pushed for Ms. James's punishment. For years, he has railed against her on social media, calling her a "crook" and
"corrunt" Last month. he also appointed Ms. for a peaceful life after years of turbulence in several cities.
The family, Nakia Thompson and her children, have lived at the address ever since, according to two people familiar with the home, and until this week, the plan for a more lacid existence had largely gone as expected. Several times a year, the people said, a great-aunt who had purchased the house in 2020 with Ms.
Thompson in mind would come for an extended stay.
This week, with the filing of court papers some 200 miles north, the plan came to an abrupt end.
The great-aunt - Letitia James, the New York attorney general - was indicted by President Trump's Justice Department. The yellow house,

If you're talking to ppl who aren't sure why we should care about the MMWR staff being fired, here's an MMWR article from 9/25/2025. These are people whose work we don't (& shouldn't have to) think about. But they gather data & inform the people who we trust to keep us safe. #EpiSky

Roberts is presiding over, and driving, a stunning collapse in faith in the U.S. Supreme Court, not just among the public, but among federal judges.

What a failure. The Titanic captain of chief justices.

We need agriculture, because we need to eat. But the biggest problem with agriculture is that it’s eating the earth. Two of every five acres of land are now farms or pastures. We’re losing a soccer field worth of forest to agriculture every six seconds.

I do understand wanting tax money spent better. There are many many areas I’d like to see tax money spent better. SNAP recipients are a cohort that are living so close to the edge already, having to live within a lot of parameters to get help. Wish it were better. For all of us

It can be so humiliating & infantilizing for applicants to be in line at grocery store & have items pulled because they aren’t allowed them. People already can’t purchase a birthday cake from bakery for their kid. So many choices taken from them. So much I’d like to see restructured for better

I’d love to see more programs attached to SNAP that give funds that can only be used for fresh fruits & veggies. Florida did this in the 2000s. Kinda like how WIC is for specific food items that support a nursing mom & young kids.
