It's hilarious and a sign of his finishing clout that Trump couldn't bully Boebert. And he didn't even try to influence MTG, showing she has real status. Really emasculating.
One reason you hold a meeting to pressure/cajole/threaten Boebert in the Situation Room is so she can't record it.

It was clear Schumer needed to go after the last showdown, but the senators prefera weak leader. If Schiff, Coons, Warren, et al really care about this capitulation, they will force him out. If they are on board, they will keep him.
I don’t care if Schumer voted no. If he’s unable to wrangle the caucus, he’s not an effective leader. I’ll continue to push for the caucus to elect a new one.

The entire thread is worth reading. The government has no credibility to rebut these claims.

I'm overexcited but this feels like Hulk tearing through his clothing. Republicans want Bruce Banner but California has the potential to Hull out. The fifth largest economy in the world lurks within the United States. Republicans won't like us when we're angry.
I just want to remind everyone that this is a statewide mandate, unencumbered by maps.

They have given up on popularity, and it's a race to steal power and money before accountability catches them. I don't think they'll win but I'm an undercover optimist.
New YouGov poll has Trump's overall approval at 39-58

He's 10 points under water on immigration and 31 points under water on inflation and prices

This video from Portland is a metaphor for what is going on in America. ICE trying so hard to get Americans to cross a line and if they don't, dragging them across the line and violently attacking.

This is several days old. But amidst so much else id missed it. That’s a stunning number. No wonder they about-faced. Reminder of the power of consumers in oligarch era, not subject to the same kind of targeting.

The natural follow up to The Thinker is Camille Claudel's Leaning Man. She should have been the next in the line of great French Romantic sculptors but never quite hit that level, one of art's biggest gender tragedies. Though, poetic justice, the Claudel room is the best part of the Musee Rodin.

Here's a photo of my friend and colleague, Jorge Bautista, getting shot in the face with a flashbang grenade. The ICE Agent is so afraid of Jorge (who was posing no threat) that he has wet himself. Please share this photo. Everyone needs to know what cowards ICE agents are.

A while back I posted a watercolor of Carpeaux's Ugolino. It felt inevitable to follow that with Rodin's The Thinker which it heavily influenced. I'm over Rodin for a variety of reasons but when you sit with The Thinker for a while, you really do mind meld with it in a deep way.

I rewatched The Day of the Jackal free on YouTube and partly because it's about France but also the way the movie's done, I keep thinking it actually happened, more than any other procedural maybe ever.

California needs to exercise it's power in every way possible including this one. Trump and the Red states are exploiting our forbearance. They steal our tax revenue for red state projects. Fifth biggest economy in the world. Flex your head!

Is Platner the first textbook Milkshake Duck in Democratic politics? It feels like an inevitable result of needing candidates who can real thru and go viral in the broken media age.
Evergreen article at Vox:

What’s a Milkshake Duck? Everything is a Milkshake Duck.
“Shrimp guy” Jensen Karp, outed as an alleged abuser, is the latest viral phenomenon to get Milkshake Ducked. But he won’t be the last.

As one who deals with design review boards and planning depts, I'm genuinely shocked at the speed of this. It's a warrantless ICE raid done as architecture.
Here's the thing I don't understand. You can't as much as sneeze near a historic site in Washington without like 14 commissions, councils, and advisory boards giving you the okay. And everybody now is like...yup, fine with us? wtf?
NEW: After The Washington Post reported Monday on the demolition of the "East Wing facade," a new picture obtained by Law Dork that was taken on Tuesday shows that a substantial portion of the entirety of the East Wing has been demolished.

More Than 170 U.S. Citizens Have Been Held by Immigration Agents. They’ve Been Kicked, Dragged and Detained for Days.
The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did. Our tally — almost certainly incomplete — includes people who were held for days without a lawyer. And near...

The most effective tactic against Trump is to cast him as a loser and a buffoon and a failure and now a confused old man with dementia. Pritzker's compassion will be enervating to Trump and his base.
Even a Stephen Miller is a sad boy who needs a hug even as he deserves a jail cell.
Pritzker: "It's clear that Donald Trump has diminished capacity, which I think is sad -- that the people around him are not getting him help, and instead they're just taking advantage of him. And that's what Stephen Miller is."
October 17, 2025 at 2:37 AM
I like this because it's true, but also that dementia gives Republicans an offramp from Trump, they will be able to dump him because of his decline and they won't have to admit he was a sociopathic rapist incompetent racist moron.
Newsom: This president appears unhinged… seems listless… he seems, dare I say, in decline—cognitively, and… physically. These are just the rantings of someone who needs an intervention, needs some help, needs to be stabilized.
