Just a jaw-dropping paragraph in Trevor Phillips's column for The Times.

This is a policy that, by his own account, has left parents of a particular race too frightened to walk their children to school.

And that's the example he chooses of the "vigour" we "need".

Been thinking a lot about why there is a lack of pd for new subject leads. No single factor but feel two biggies are new SLs not actually knowing what they don't know (e.g. running an effective meeting) and when they do, not being forthcoming for fear of appearing unprepared for leadership.

Trump’s 28-point peace plan with Russia “is misnamed,” @anneapplebaum.bsky.social argues. “It is not a peace plan. It is a proposal that weakens Ukraine and divides America from Europe, preparing the way for a larger war in the future.”

I did this in both of my classes this semester. It was super successful. The students had to ask an LLM about a subject they already knew well, like their favorite musician, movie, sports team, or something else they had previously researched.

DOGE was created for data theft and infrastructure dismantling and it wildly succeeded on both counts within the first few weeks of its existence. It will take a generation to rebuild what it destroyed and the breach of data is unprecedented.
Bye bye, “DOGE”.

It no longer exists as a “centralized entity”, according to the Office of Personnel Management.

Really enjoyed listening to @mrarobbins.bsky.social on latest They Behave for Me. Years on since Middle Leader Mastery but still precious little focus in schools on specific training of middle leaders. Found the discussion of managing up particularly good.

Sorry, "claiming" was the wrong word, Reform's policies are absolutely racist, but so, by the very definition of what they propose, particularly with children of refugees who have been born in the UK but risk deportation if their parent is, are Labour's.

Not sure how Labour can fully square the circle between admitting that Reform's proposals to deport children are racist, but their plans for deport children, even if born and raised in the UK, are "fair and compassionate".

This article should be read by every teacher of history. A powerful analysis of the why and the how of teaching about the Holocaust in an age of misinformation and conspiracy theory. Brilliant writing from @andypearce.bsky.social

The only Legitimate Concerns about asylum seekers are concerns for their well being and safety. For a rich country like ours to incessantly whine about these people as if we are their victims is perhaps the single most pathetic spectacle in British politics over the past quarter century.
No, I'd say it's racists and those pandering to them.

Desperately sad to look at the state of the Labour government and reflect on how optimistic I felt as the results rolled in in the last election. More fool I.

To suggest that having lived a life so grim that even an English tribunal will grant you asylum, and to have somehow managed to get here at great risk to life, is a "golden ticket" is absolutely fucking contemptible. Shame on this so-called Labour Party.

Should Gibb be sacked? yes, obviously. He's an abomination of basic journalistic standards. His GB News channel spreads conspiracy theory & disinformation. His Jewish Chronicle newspaper spreads invented stories. He is plainly trying to undermine the BBC so it's as bad as everything else he touches.
