Did I happen to mention there's a new issue of Trollbreath Magazine available? And did I happen to mention that Trollbreath Magazine is now open for submissions for our Spring/Summer 2026 issues?

We've started attending a Universalist Unitarian church. I've been deeply anti-religious since my teens, but this is a group of leftists celebrity the diversity of human kind, not whatever God a religion has on tap.

There are few ways to build community in rural Maine. This was our best compromise.

MTG is resigning her office? Trump is now Mamdani's new best friend and fawns over him? The pope held a rave for a cardinal's 75th birthday?

Has someone been playing with the Large Hadron Collider again? Well keep doing it...

Finally feeling much better, aided by a two-hour afternoon nap. I'll take a brief night of feeling bad over any of the diseases those vaccines protect me from, though.

Oh and the WORST part of this experience was what little sleep I DID get had me dreaming that he who should not be seen or heard from ever again had fucking DIED of a sudden stroke during a press conference.

He even shit himself on camera as he collapsed!

Why can't we have nice things?
On second thought, perhaps I should NOT have gotten triple vaccinated (COVID, pneumonia, shingles) on Wednesday. But hey, you know what they say...

Oh, hey, if you're a Stargate fan, it's returning with new seasons on Amazon. I don't spend money at Amazon any more, but you might, and this might appeal to you, so here you go.

If you're going to use a predicative LLM ad-lib generator that's wrong at LEAST 5% of the time to get tax advice, you might as well prep for your upcoming audit while you're at it.

Meanwhile, the GOP takes away free tax filing... and Intuit sees a windfall coming to pay for this nonsense.
"As part of the partnership, users will be able to authorize Intuit to pull the right data and return tailored results, like estimating a tax refund, finding the right credit card, or generating QuickBooks insights off real-time business activity."

Intuit has struck a $100 million-plus annual deal with OpenAI to bring AI into its financial products like TurboTax and QuickBooks.

Best part of this news is getting the notice at work: "Enterprise ChatGPT is out due to the cloudflare outage."

Good. You didn't need it. I only wish it would stay out forever.
Another day, another issue with Cloudfare which is affecting multiple websites.

Just enough snow to barely cover the grass on this, our first snowy day. It'll be gone in an hour or two, leaving us with our usual bitter winter winds, which will howl for a few days before settling down to small craft advisory levels until the next storm.

Hearing about the UK's shortage of turkeys (bird flu) reminds me we have to play chicken with the herds of wild turkeys gaggling across the roads every time we go for a drive.

When I was a kid, there was zero wild turkeys in Maine. Now, they are legion.

But still not as mean as Canadian geese.

Wife and I are editing issue 6 today.

Wife's office: 2nd floor; big south-facing sliding door to balcony; shades wide open, sun streaming in.

My office: 1st floor; light blocking shades all pulled tight; office lights dim; computer apps in dark mode.

She is the light... I am the dark...

These people watched Black Mirror and literally ignored the point of every single story presented. "Hey, what if we COULD bring dead people back to life virtually??? How cool!!!"

No. Not cool. Stop it, you fucking ghouls.

Well, that was one of the nicest personal rejections I've ever gotten for a story. It almost completely blunted the sting of the "rejection" part of that sentence.

Almost. 🙃

(honestly, at this point most rejections just roll off me, and it was great to hear positive thoughts about this story)

What I find frustrating as an editor is that their boilerplate remains the same, despite numerous complaints, authors pulling works, and SFWA weighing in.

Trollbreath makes permanent any changes to our boilerplate in response to author comments. If the change is good for one, it's good for all.
On August 12, 1971, 16-year-old me mailed the first story I ever wrote off on its first submission to my dream market, F&SF. My tale was quickly rejected. On July 17th, 2025, I finally sold a story to that magazine. Here's why I felt I had to withdraw that story. www.scottedelman.com/wordpress/20...

Repost with an iconic fictional band (since someone already took Lady Parts, I'll go with School of Rock because all those kids played their instruments and sang and it was amazing)

Thank you for gifting this article. I could see these issues as a young gamer, but it was also so pervasive in the SFF worlds I loved. Signed, Jennifer, not-your-fucking-cleric Reynolds
The far right is obsessed with Lord of the Rings and Musk keeps posting about "hobbits" because modern scientific racism owes more to fantasy worlds and gaming systems than genetic science, and they see both as effective mediums for right-wing propaganda www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...
