I don't find this view pervasive among the public. Most people know things are bad & want info + pressure applied to decision makers

Media/Pol circles however *absolutely* seem to believe this- it's one of the main claims thrown at me by journos. Why do they think that despite clear evidence?
You know, there’s this pervasive view that people don’t care about climate change / are bored of it / find it overwhelming but I wrote this story this week and social media went crazy over it. People care!!!! They really care are they need a way to channel it www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...
New Zealand guts climate policy it bragged about on the world stage
The law was once held up internationally as a model of transparency. The government just weakened it.

Judith Collins calling open fascist Kristi Noem a friend and posing for photo ops with her would have her hounded out of politics in any reasonable democracy - and a functioning, non-propagandistic media would lead that charge

Unfortunately we have neither of those things in NZ

The whole point of democracy is so one person's derangement does not become everybody's problem. It's social hygiene. The fact the richest men in the West are a mix of grotty twelve year olds and deranged apocalypse fanatics is a problem, and we should be honest about it.

Some sort of investment fund? This economically illiterate 1970s state capitalism policy pales in comparison to my strategy: spending every last dollar this country has on 10 roads
Would it be best for me to ring Te Papa tomorrow and ask them? Thank you!

If he's genuinely worried about birth rates, he'd advocate for enhanced paid maternity leave, affordable housing, and universal childcare. Instead, he's scapegoating women's liberation. Predictable and tiresome.

Yes definitely, it’s in there.
Does anyone in Pōneke know where I could take a dead Kererū (flew into our window 🥺😔) for someone to make use of its feathers?

One time I asked ChatGPT to generate some code. It gave me complete dogshit which didn't even compile, so I paste just the error message and nothing else. It then responded with an entire paragraph praising "my" code, followed by hyping me up telling me how close I am to getting it perfect.
You know how billionaires end up with severe cognitive deficits as a result of becoming surrounded by yes men who constantly tell them their every idea is genius? What if we made a bot that just does that to everyone. I think that would be a good idea.

Remember the old rightwing argument that all we needed to do was put a price on climate emissions and let the market do its thing? Well the necessary step was for the Govt to put a price on emissions. The current far right NZ Govt just announced it will never put a price on emissions.

The solutions proposed for New Zealand's (and virtually every other country's) problems are always like:
"We need to make people work for more years"
"We have to cut back on services, I'm sorry, there is just no other way"
"We have to cut benefits for young people"

never:
"We need to tax the rich"
