Found out yesterday that during his ‘indentured to MI6’ period, my Communist defector gonggong was sent by British high command to meet with Chin Peng to negotiate a surrender, maybe around 1954? 🧵 Am I surprised they gave Maria Corina Machado the Nobel Peace Prize? No. Does she deserve it? Also, no. There’s a reason she was barred from running for office in Venezuela: multiple violent coup attempts and calling of foreign governments, like Israel, to invade Venezuela.

One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

Fun fact: when you have Long Covid but can’t work you have to go on the Jobseeker benefit because GPs can’t say whether you’ll still have Long Covid in two years - so teens with chronic conditions are now conceivably navigating absolutely debilitating symptoms while also getting zero govt support 👍🫠

I was working at MSD on early intervention in 2004 when Phil Goff was really into it cos he saw the estimated savings of keeping people out of prison. Prof David Fergusson from the Christchurch & Otago studies came into the office one day and explained to me what a p-value was, peak MSD moment tbh

At UoA they didn't even call it 'Political Science', it was 'Political Studies' cos the Dept was led by political philosophers & historians haha. I had never heard of a p-value or comparative methods til I graduated & went to work for a Ministry. I HAD A FIRST CLASS M.A. FROM THE POLS DEPT LOL

Yeah, he had a real academic posting many years ago! But tbh NZ 'political science' was v woolly in this country up to at least the 90s, and you could get away with a lot that was literally just op-ed-level work (I mean he was case in point). I think maybe he just couldn't keep up with developments.

The Junta needs to be removed root & branch from Myanmar & the people's of Myanmar desperately need help as the attacks escalate & even more get displaced.
