If Bluesky suddenly drops verification requirements on NZ, I will be checking quickly if deer.social works as a bypass.

(It's an independent version of the bluesky app with some extra advanced features, but is the same data so you can see all your friends there)
If Bluesky suddenly drops verification requirements on NZ I wany you to know I will miss you all very much.

oh thank god, a journalist at RNZ:IndoNZ who is an actual journalist, not a flameout ex-MP who had a totally unrelated job before that
Unpacking the Indian community’s tussle with non-vegetarian food at festivals
The debate reflects a deeper tension over how Indian cultural practices are defined in New Zealand.

Kiddo topped the class at prizegiving (ok the sensitive way to say this in 2025 is 'outstanding learner' of the class) and I am absolutely beside myself with pride, but now I don't know what to say even in casual conversation to any other parent-friends for fear of being That Asian Parent

The I think original legal claim on this issue was sitting on the desk of the Human Rights Review Tribunal TWENTY (20) YEARS AGO when I was around at HRC - which they eventually won, and the govt legislated over the top of it. Damn, this victory took an undeniable grindset mentality.

Oh, here's a big surprise. The transphobes don't believe in ADHD either.
then, the transphobes , feeling victorious at how many people they have made unhappy and despairing in the previous week, move on to anything else that has a spectrum and the possibility of more colours than they can conceive - such hateful people - they cannot understand anything that is not THEM

I mean tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme, but NZ Labour love collapsing to their worst instincts and adopting a "better not have anyone yell at us" position which makes them extremely easy to manipulate by the right wing who simply don't care - and Labour get yelled at anyway.

This time next year we'll know for certain, I'd happy to be wrong. But I've been here before, and the vibes are pretty similar. Hipkins wants to be Starmer, God knows why he's unpopular and terrible at politics. He's Ed Miliband though. Who wasn't as unpopular or bad at politics. But still lost.

Who on earth is treating February like it is summer break? (Other than lawyers and politicians)

Almost any moderately normal person could have told him that the whole Metaverse thing was stupid and very niche.

Just as most normal people could tell him (and the rest of the tech CEOs) that no one wants "AI" jammed into everything.
Mark Zuckerberg’s gamble on the "Metaverse" has lost his company more than $77 billion.
