He/him and happy to try to remember to use whatever your own pronouns are. Books, movies, comics, sci-fi, horror, mystery, art, whatever pops into my head. Just a dude seeking to abide. Colorado, USA.
This sounds like something out of an A24 film. I would feel absolutely gutted if I experienced this.

Yikes.
Feb. 14, 1926: Chicago police detective Thomas Christensen shoots and kills the proprietor of a roadhouse while in a drunken rage after he was denied service. He has to be subdued by highway patrol deputies before he can be taken into custody.

Some people call it a taxi, some call it a cab, a few people still say taxi cab... but no one's fancy enough anymore to refer to it as a taximeter cabriolet.

I wish I'd hear that pop up once in a while, as a little treat.

It's my parents' anniversary. They're both 80+. Someone gave them a bottle of alcohol-free wine. Now that the giver's not around, my dad's being super crochety. "How the hell can wine be alcohol free? Wouldn't that just be grape juice? It don't look like grape juice." It's a Sauvinon Blanc.

This is the point in a Flintstones episode where a prehistoric critter being used as a household appliance looks directly at the audience and says half-heartedly "Eh, it's a living."
Waymo, Google’s autonomous vehicle company, and DoorDash have launched a pilot program that pays delivery workers, at least in one case, around $10 to travel to a parked Waymo and close its door that a previous passenger left open, according to a joint statement from the company given to 404 Media.
Waymo Is Getting DoorDashers to Close Doors on Self Driving Cars
The companies have launched a pilot program in Atlanta, where “during the rare event a vehicle door is left ajar, preventing the car from departing, nearby Dashers are notified, allowing Waymo to get ...

I'm not saying I'm the anonymous buyer. I'm just saying there's no way in a hundred lifetimes I could afford to be the anonymous buyer.

One of the more despicable uses of genAI that I've heard about, and that's really saying something when they're all within a spectrum of being despicable.
Aided by genAI models like ChatGPT, “writers” hoping to get paid for fake stories have become an even bigger problem for publications big and small. One such writer almost pulled one over on COYOTE — until @soleilho.com, who is a nerd, spotted a key idiosyncrasy.

Ah yes, Epstein Island, famous as a destination for... lunch. And then of course it's only natural to conspicuously mention doing a head count of your kids before you leave.
VAN HOLLEN: Did you in fact make the visit to Epstein's private island?

LUTNICK: I did have lunch w/ him as I was on a boat going across on a family vacation. My wife was with me as were my 4 children and nannies. We had lunch on the island. That's true. For an hour. We left with all of my children

people who say that all creative endeavor can be replaced with AI probably need to reckon with the fact that all televised sports events with human athletes could easily be replicated by high-definition computer-animated simulations….and yet we don’t do this and no one seems to want to.
