Latest Govt financial stats out last week. Interesting what we have invested more in over the years (hi kids). Always worth remembering that if you let inequality run riot, Govt has to tax more and more to redistribute income to people on low incomes that can't afford to eat, rent or pay the bills

Can we stop with the 'rough sleepers' bs term and call it what it is 'homeless' I'm sure we imported the term from tory uk calling it rough sleepers as it sounds temporary. #nzpol

Number of under 16s sleeping rough 'much larger than we'd first anticipated'
Young people are sleeping on the streets and in cars as a service says the problem is getting worse.

Now, I freely admit that I am probably not labours target demo, but if their answer to a single term of the fastest dismantling of progress we have ever seen in this country is; "steady now, we cant move too quickly, cant fix everything, temper your expectations"

I am not confident

National's Local Water Done Well will come to be recognised as a generational cock-up. Simon Watts's vague claim that rates will not increase is farcically untrue. www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/politics/...
Revealed: Councils expected to foot a near $48 billion bill for Local Water Done Well
Officials estimate water service infrastructure will cost $47.9 billion to 2034.

So, police, prison guards, judges etc: Of course Govt will pay to train and pay enough kiwis to enforce the law, lock bad people up, and please the ghouls.
But... GPs, health specialists, dentists etc: We will offer interest free loans and other flacid crap to make sure people get what they need.

🔴⚠️Latest Update: Another Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Auckland. After the heavy rain band that has passed, another heavy rain band is coming in from the north and west, expected to affect the areas that were affected by the first heavy rain band.

I am so stoked about this. I could moan about some details, and how an enduring service must run multiple times a day, but simply having an operator prepared to run this in such a hostile car-centric environment is such a step up from having nothing for over two decades—I’m thrilled. We need this!

#TicketingNews: Auckland Transport is doubling the public transport discount for tertiary students from 20 per cent to 40 per cent from 14 December 2025.

This change brings AT’s tertiary discount in line with the discount offered to children aged 5-12 and secondary students.

Boards Chair here - before our BOT passed a motion affirming our commitment to Te Tiriti, I received emails from parents and teachers urging the board on.

The union never said a word.

Amazing that reaffirming a commitment to Te Tiriti is viewed as "anti-govt" (his words)

I wanna remind kiwis as well to stop being so "polite" to your fascist family and friends. Open your mouth and say something about it.
A reminder that we are not awarding points for sitting there quietly will your racist family spews racism and transphobia. You don't get to feel good about yourself for "not taking the bait." Step up! If you insist on eating with people who want your friends dead SHOW UP TO FIGHT. BECOME A PROBLEM.
How to eat with others
This is the last painting I did at my old studio. I left it behind. You can support my shenanigans for a mere $2/mo. This week’s question comes to us from...

How to lose money in an area rich with public transport, add car parking.
This is the idea of the Eden Park CE, and not a very smart one at that.
As well as pissing off everyone who lives there.

Eden Park eyes space for 1500 car parks to replace outer oval in stadium overhaul
Park bosses are also keen to see a footbridge connect directly with nearby Kingsland.

Glad to see the City Rail Link bringing in a lot of new development,

such as Eden Park's plan to include 1500 new car parks.

Because, fuck trains and buses amirite?

This is hilarious, like so embarrassing. I'm mainly wondering though, if this has a) fundamentally undermined the basis of MMP by rendering coalition agreements kinda worthless, or b) been a useful example of why seriously batshit minor parties shouldn't overplay their hand even with a weakass major

🚨 Breaking News 🚨

Auckland Transport and the Eastern Busway Alliance have discovered an unknown effect that's jamming traffic on the new Rā Hihi intersection:

they have dubbed it "higher traffic growth than expected"

but experts say that it's something called "induced demand" or whatever.

This is huge consultation news.

We now have the ability to tell AT that an arm's length painted bike lane is a safety hazard - not infrastructure.

AT are proposing to narrow the flush median and widen the on-road cycle lanes to provide safer cycling facilities.

How the fuck does this get New Zealand "back on track"?

"Back on track" to be in the shit??

#nzpol
No matter what the politicians say, this is discrimination. Look at how the regulation is worded: This is not a ban on its use for a particular indication, it's a ban for a population.
