oh, i am so into this. tia’s introduction’s making me think of vintage housewives. she’s serving luann i never feel guilty about being privileged. her daughter telling gizelle her mom bought the dog because it was on sale, A+

“we are women in two thousand twenty-five.” [abandons opening champagne because there’s foil on the neck and how the fuck does that shit come off?????] (figurative) tears streaming down my face.

stacey is very kristen wiig penelope-coded. “okay i know you guys don’t want to hear this but i’m nigerian too.” housewives is at its best when the women are assembled like a mid-to-late aughts vanity fair photoshoot and the second bloom party is the perfect vehicle.

it’s hard to not be hyperbolic when discussing housewives, though one could argue that’s its magic. in any event: just over five minutes into episode two of this season of potomac and boy is it lightning in a bottle. the energy is off the charts.

The trailblazing transgender rights activist Miss Major has passed away at the age of 78.

Miss Major was a lifelong organizer and participant in the ballroom scene. She took part in the 1969 Stonewall Riots and was injured by the police — but she kept fighting.

the allen of it all aside—if that’s at all possible—it makes sense they’d show annie hall but, idk, sleeper or love and death feel more, uh, of the moment 🤭. i mean, shit, if you’re gonna do it just show manhattan for the opening alone.

adding to that: lol, show reds, you cowards! anyway, they won’t do it but i want to, on a good day, but especially right now, watch something’s gotta give on a big screen with a popcorn bucket in the shape of a hat and a soda in a cup that sheds its turtleneck as it warms.

this is great, don’t get me wrong. i still do diane-desk-tears at the something’s gotta give brunch at almao that sold out before i knew about it. BUT [whisper] the first wives club and particularly, it being fall and all, the family stone would do NUMBERS.

you can’t tell me the turnaround on this season wasn’t ten days. (i know it wasn’t ten days.)

this season of project runway (i’m watching the finale now) is giving recession indicator. the final collection is five looks? okay, sure. whatever you say.

so funny. speaking of funny i’m still laughing at lisa grabbing basquiat and going, “oh my god he’s shaking!”

crazier than crazy to go from adriana and julia’s, uh, let’s just say stuff, to kiki’s relationship with her father and haiti writ large.

anecdotally i am horrified to see amazon pushing something’s gotta give via some subscription something-or-other called wonder project, which offers an edited version of the film which runs 10 minutes shorter. perhaps amanda peet and frances mcdormand are cut entirely, i don’t know.

i don’t think there are as many keaton titles in the apple top 100 as there were redford titles after he passed because, and no offense to redford: many already own keaton’s bigger titles and, in the new release tuesday reset interim, they aren’t as immediately affordable. pink tax strikes again.

keep thinking about jack nicholson’s harry telling diane keaton’s erica that he likes her so much he’s always told her some version of the truth. and her, crestfallen, responding that there are no versions of the truth. you know, apropos of nothing.

i don’t think i’ve seen it since the year of its release but something i think about a lot is that jt leroy and diane keaton, among others, produced gus van sant’s elephant.
veilleux.bsky.social
i think she would’ve laughed at this. and not because she was two bottles of keaton red deep.

i think I'll miss you most of all, scarecrow
diane keaton.
