Hey friends.

Edison mutual aid is running out of funds. Can you please give or share if you can? Needs are astronomical.

@ziibiing.com I haven’t checked if this one is in your list. Please add, gracias!
Sharing a local school fundraiser for students and families that have had to be in hiding for weeks. We have a robust system for getting mutual aid to families in need.

Please help.

thinking about what will remain of our empire in 3500 years. the people of the future who are excavating the United States and deciphering our language will be like, yeah, they *were* unforgivable monsters

but also one of them wrote BLACK SILK
also once again reassessing my view of the Assyrians. they did not write Gilgamesh but they did read it and preserve its tablets in their palace library at Nineveh, so they can't be all bad
I am almost finished with this book now and it's a great, engrossing read and (1) I regret not specifying below that the French and Ottoman Empires also sucked (2) in a book that is a tour through many, many grasping vicious bloodthirsty empires/kingdoms/peoples... the Assyrians. ho ly shit

Hey APub authors who have Amazon works on the rights list--this could give you a LOT more money out of the Anthropic settlement.
HEY APub AUTHORS!!!

Amazon has put up a form where they (non legal terminology) sign over their half of any anthropic settlement money to you. Obvs I can not give anyone legal advice, but check this out. This could give you 2x the money.

I hope Dropout TV has a plan*, because the predictable just happened after Bending Spoons bought Vimeo.

* For a critical supplier like Vimeo I'd normally expect something like notification on upcoming change of control + change of control clauses

old twitter was like a place in interwar berlin, paris, or shanghai people have romantic memories about in spite of witnessing knife fights between prostitutes daily and heroin junkies overdosing
My pleases-nobody sense of Return To Twitter Discourse is that the place can never return to what it was, and can never return to the idealized past version we imagine either, nor can that idealized past version be constructed anywhere else because it was always romantic self-regarding bullshit

A massive problem today is the uneven distribution of shame. Some of us are running dedicated on-site shame servers 24/7 while others have no access to shame at all, even though they desperately need it. What we need to do is put shame in the cloud

Even if you hadn’t been masking in public lately, now’s good time to normalize everyone wearing masks again for all sorts of reasons.
Justify it anyway you like- covid, anti gov’t surveillance, bad air quality from wildfires, pick what works for you, just, you know, wear a mask please & thank you

ALANNA THE LIONESS Book #1 comes out today, and I cannot express how blessed I feel to be on this team.

@sambeckdraws.bsky.social is a damn rockstar, being her collaborator is such a thrill!

Josh Reed's letters are perfection!

Andrea Miller's design of the book is what dreams are made of!

this is why you shouldnt believe what you see on the internet. It was actually closer to 50 years. His name was Porphyrios, he actually caused the creation of entirely new trading routes just to avoid him and was declared enemy of the state by Justinian. He is the hero we need.
Wasn't there a whale that took a hating to Rome and sunk a bunch of ships for like 10 years?
