I would like one of my ghost stories to get retold by an enthusiastic reader in such a way that it becomes mistaken for genuine folklore and subsequently retold and reprinted as such many times over decades, until a future folklorist investigates the tale and traces it back to me.

That's genuinely why I had to stop modding entirely. Once I start modding, it's literally all I do with the game. I never play it anymore, I just mod it forever.

never learn how to fix a buggy feature in a beloved game, or anything you just think could be better if X. don't do it. you will never stop, and you will never have fun again.
it's actually my fault for teaching myself to mod Bloodlines all those years ago. once you CAN fix something (or know enough about it to learn how to fix each new problem) you will never STOP fixing
