faking it till you make it is great but have you tried being mediocre at a job for 20 years and continuing to critically assess your own competency until the day you retire?

Happy St Katherine's Day to all scholars, librarians, and Katherines. May you win an argument against an annoying man today, in the true spirit of Katherine herself.

after much thought about what to bring to my (large) family thanksgiving (a holiday i am as much grossed out by as i enjoy, tbh) i've decided on a case of topo chico (glass bottles) and a bottle of veuve for the hosts. i will leave the pies to the experts.

A big part of this new stitching style I’ve been messing with is trying to actively avoid forming patterns, which is like weirdly hard to do?

Come for the article about the British Library hack, stay for the impromptu reading group that pops up in the replies (my librarian heart grew three sizes just now)
I’ve written a piece on the curious lack of media and political interest in the issues faced by our national @britishlibrary.bsky.social. This is strange given we live in a world where ideas, knowledge and research are a long-term source of innovation and insight

The British library is in crisis: why does nobody care?
The widespread indifference to the British Library's crippling cyberattack demonstrates a perilous failure to value the knowledge infrastructure vital for national prosperity

if you were trying to recreate a vintage camp logo what font/s would you use? (this is definitely not me picking up a project from 18 billion years ago but also this is me with every project since quarantine-times.)

Asking this in a wide way, but are there any Illinois school librarians who follow me, who are members of AISLE, and who are interested in doing more work around book censorship and intellectual freedom? If SOOOO, send me a DM here.

RSS was one of the best internet technologies and they just can't stop trying to kill it i hate this timeline
I've always been convinced that video podcasts exist to force creators to be reliant on a closed distribution platform. Podcasts are built on tech (RSS) that nobody can own. Every major tech company has wanted to migrate podcasts to something proprietary, but it never sticks. Video is their answer.
*banging a metal pot with a wooden spoon very loudly*

people want to LISTEN to podcasts!!!!!!!!!!!!

what part of "american society was completely ok with old dudes fucking literal children for a very long time" do we not understand? (jk- i have always hated these fuckers and i will not mourn the deaths of their careers if ANYONE ever actually ends up getting punished for it.)
“The review found that Harvard in 2005 admitted Mr. Epstein as a visiting fellow in the psychology department and readmitted him the following year. And the review concluded “it is likely” that Mr. Epstein visited Harvard more than 40 times after his release from jail, between 2010 and 2018.”

britney spears as A LITERAL SCHOOL GIRL with grown adult men openly ogling her. lolita being treated like a completely normal sexy male fantasy. very young women being depicted as "gold diggers" for marrying older men who were clearly preying on them. THE CULTURE WAS ROTTEN TO THE CORE, MY FRIENDS.
See also: internet countdown clocks for the Olsen twins, Christina Aguilera, and other girls growing up, sayings like "if there's grass on the field...", and Brooke Shields's early career.

I also remember the whole "money, cars, girls" acquisition arc for boys and men everywhere in pop culture.
