How many people in the Trump regime do you think understand the implications of what’s happening in Iran right now?
January 25, 2026 at 5:08 PM
No thank you, Rahm Emmanuel. I don’t think I need to hear what you have to say right now. We all have limited attention to give and you’re just not the person I choose to listen to in our current situation. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Desperately trying to find an article that discusses both ocd (not the personality disorder) and mirror neurons, including any connection between them whatsoever. I’m glad Google has decided to be a completely useless resource nowadays!

Listen, I know we all like to shit on social media, but people really did need to meet more people. Way too many, too fast, sure. Greater minds would have wanted to find a way to acclimate the human mind for such a thing but here we are ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hey, now, let’s not forget the slightly insane ideologues who will use literally any lever of power they can get their hands on to promote their niche cause and don’t care who gets hurt in the process
It must be wild being a Republican. Literally no beliefs other than a burning desire to have a bigger, more confident man tell them what to do.

Oof. It’s gotta suck being a black person who is glad people are mad about people getting shot by authorities in America but also like wow yes a lot of people in these our current times do seem to value white lives more than black lives just by the attention paid and the uproar caused.

NYC people on Medicaid, is there a reliable psych/office you've found for ADHD meds? I've had a hell of a time trying to find someone who takes my state insurance and also prescribes real fucking medicine

lol we let too many neurodivergent people get law degrees we have a tendency to be attached to rules and fairness
I agree, and I think it's important that we on the left acknowledge/make this point. Don't ask me what it means or where that leads, but this past year the judiciary has done its part far more than most of the institutional forces in US life. Along with local organizing, it has helped a great deal.
imo of all the formal political institutions in US life, the judiciary has given the best account of itself by a pretty large margin (with the obvious exception of SCOTUS) and a younger me was way more dismissive of the courts than history would prove deserved

I notice it’s mostly men talking about declining birth rates perhaps they can figure out how to have babies and then I might allow them to have a say in this matter (beyond fixing the aspects of masculinity and the systems that make having babies such a burden and a risk for women.)

ALSO, what the right is about to learn is that eventually other people WILL start to play by your rules. You cannot build your entire coalition on trusting the other side will always take the high road.
What you will let your government do to “others,” it will one day do to you.

Lying. Falsifying evidence. Attacking character.

Poisoning land and drinking water.

Summary extrajudicial execution.

Mass surveillance.

Mass incarceration.

Conditional citizenship.

United we stand; divided we fall.
At the end of the day, the Black Lives Matter era was about whether people should be killed in the street, and lots of people decided yeah and put those little blue flags on their cars. It spread to everyone because it stopped for no one.

Kind of think government murder squads roaming our streets is more upsetting than having to see pronouns in emails occasionally.

My hot take is that at minimum a domestic violence conviction should carry a lot more of the shame and restrictions of a sex offender; it should ban you nationally from gun ownership, jobs in law enforcement, schools, pretty much any public sector work. It’s our clearest red flag for future violence
Watching these videos of ICE attacking children, I can’t help but think about how many of these men first practiced their violence in their own homes.

Domestic violence teaches our oppressors to dehumanize the most vulnerable among us.

lol we're all so used to organized religion being absolutely hypocritical to the core that we are truly surprised when even some small percentage of them do the actual things they've been lecturing about since their inception. that said, good on ya for standing up for what you believe. we see you.
The general strike today, and the Whipple building blockade, and the march downtown - all amazing and incredible turnouts, but nothing is hitting me so hard as the masses of clergy who showed up to the airport to protest this morning. And I'm not even religious.

2 things i need from UI designers:
1) MAKE IT EASIER TO SIGN OUT PLEASE
2) if you give me the option to give feedback at a later date, i might not just summarily dismiss your always poorly-timed reminders to rate and review

i do not understand the phrase "will be canceled", without any sort of 'if' condition. isn't "will be canceled" just "canceled"? (as in, 'due to the impeding storm, garbage collection will be canceled on Monday') my weird nd brain is over here trying to suss out if this means some other secret thing
