Another impactful judgement from the German Federal Court of Justice highlighting that a mere, even if temporary, loss of control over personal data following a GDPR violation constitutes a non-material damage.

Humans are excellent at anthropomorphising _anything_ for companionship.

We collectively understand why Tom Hanks' character in Castaway makes a 'friend' out of a basketball and becomes attached to it. We also understand that this doesn't mean the basketball is sentient.

Learnt another Britishism that Americans get confused by…

“Are you going to have a lie-in tomorrow?”

Response was resoundingly “where am I going to get a lion?!”

Apparently it’s just called “sleeping in” and it’s a verb not a noun!

absolutely massive news from the EU's top court! while it doesn't force every EU country to perform same-sex marriages, it *does* require them to recognise same-sex marriages from other countries the same way they recognise other foreign marriages

it's a big step!

The Munich Regional Court has handed down its much-awaited decision in GEMA v OpenAI, and it is… a lot, and right on the back of the Getty Images High Court ruling. On the surface, this looks like a clear defeat for OpenAI: the court found copyright infringement in the model and in the outputs, granted injunctive relief, ordered disclosure, and paved the way for damages to be decided at a later date.

I’m not exaggerating!

"That’s the magic trick. Not “have a glass of bubbly..." but “we have surgically removed 70% of the stress from your journey before you even see the aircraft”. Yet your advert skips serenely over this, as if the airport were some neutral prelude rather than the seventh circle of hell."

"Enhanced technical safeguards will also be introduced, to detect and block coordinated or fraudulent voting activity. And stronger limits on promotion will be implemented to curb disproportionate third-party influence, including government-backed campaigns."

Changes to the Eurovision Song Contest voting framework will be introduced for Vienna 2026:

Clearer rules around promotion, fewer maximum votes, juries returning to the Semi-Finals, and enhanced technical safeguards to be implemented ahead of May.

Could have done without the additional spanner in the works.
