*Thoughts & opinions are my own.
Imagine local control in CA unburdened by Prop 13 so counties and cities could actually fund their services without having to put sales or parcel taxes on the ballot every year to stay above water. Then we could see cities actually experiment with policies

She looks so giddy over the thought of invading another country so oil companies can have a field day

Spent part of the weekend in Buena Park to attend a funeral. Hated the land use but I liked The Source shopping mall. I wish northern Alameda County had something like that.

Also saw the city’s pop and its budget is slightly bigger than Alameda. Thought its budget would be larger

Congress could exercise their powers as given to them by the Constitution. The GOP representatives are choosing to not do their jobs
Just saying, but they could always uh… do their jobs instead of being partisan shitweasels?

Should counties and cities that fail to meet state housing goals or other goals of state importance lose their charters?
November 24, 2025 at 4:51 PM
I’ve started looking into city charters bc of the two reforms happening here (SF & Oak) and I’m starting to believe that part of CA’s failures comes from allowing too many communities to become incorporated cities. Thoughts: 1. They should only be allowed to incorporate if they are economic centers

NEW: Sean Duffy frequently calls safety his “top priority” as transportation secretary. But I spent months wading through regulatory notices and found something far different: that USDOT has been delaying, weakening and killing dozens of safety rules, many opposed by the transportation industry.🧵

Remember when Republicans and corporate media lost their minds over Charlie Kirk's murder, which was allegedly done by Tyler Robinson, and somehow blamed "the left" for their rhetoric?

But Trump outright saying Democrats should be executed is fine.

Cool.

THREAD: Judge Ellis is the first federal judge to review extensive body cam video of DHS's actions in Chicago. She finds that DHS *repeatedly* misled the public and made claims that were disproven by agents' own videos.

I'll go through some of the most egregious ones here.

On Monday evening a driver hit a person cycling across Central on the Ohlone Greenway, despite the automatic flashing lights when someone crosses.

People walking and biking use this crossing a lot, as it connects to El Cerrito Plaza BART station.

We must slow car traffic to protect lives.

There needs to be trials and there needs to be people sent to die in a prison cell. Consequences must fall on the people who issued the orders and those who carried them out. We must make the punishment of these people a national spectacle that will be remembered for generations.

He said that the agents would throw food at them to eat. The agents threatened to withhold food for a week and to beat him up if he didn't sign deportation papers. He said he saw others refuse and get beaten/receive no food. He signed because he was afraid.
