Holder: I don’t think Jim Comey stands any chance of being convicted. I think the same is true for Letitia James.

But to have a former insurance lawyer—someone who has never been a criminal prosecutor—present a case to a grand jury simply at the call of the President is extremely dangerous.

The fact a *single* Amazon full-time employee requires SNAP benefits should be a crime. The fact Amazon is the largest employer of SNAP recipients is a disgrace. Jeff Bezos shouldnt be that rich; he should be in jail.

Am I kinda getting a little joy out of a retired social worker in Ann Arbor with a “in this house” lawn sign donating to “15% less racist Joe Rogan” because we are fucking winning this thing goddamnit
You’d be asking people to fund media that has very little appeal to them. I mean maybe I’m wrong and you could get Dem partisan women to be ok with funding a “yo low-key I’m voting AOC because she’s fucking got it dude, smoke show” if it moved the ball down the field. But I sorta doubt it.

Gavin dressed in a suit gives off boss that protagonist’s corporate exec girlfriend cheats on him with before he rediscovers a lust for life with free spirited barista vibes. Gavin business casual looks like a Bruce Wayne, Gavin casual casual looks like he liked your vibe from across the bar.

One underrated aspect of Zohran is that he always wears a suit, always presents himself professionally while still doing fun and approachable retail politics. You don’t have to drape yourself yourself in hypebeast and post thirst traps, you can be fucking grown up respecting the office and be fun

The most positive thing you can say about Dick Cheney is that we were a much better country when he was one of the most malign figures in politics. Now he probably wouldn’t crack the top ten.

Yeah national cooling off period of ten days+ stricter red flag laws in exchange for less restrictions on suppressors would be good horse trading on the policy merits.
I don't think it's a good issue and I don't think Dems should waste time/capital on it, but (as a gun guy) if you really want to do gun regulation I promise you could get some common sense stuff passed in return for deregulating suppressors
gonna reiterate a hobbyhorse of mine: 'let the ATF keep electronic records' is a good fight to pick on guns. it doesn't impact normie gun owners at all, it's an insane bit of GOP mandated dysfunction in government, and it's being "tough on crime" in a way that actually matters

If people had done their civic duty in 2000, 2009, 2010, and 2014, we wouldn’t need to be hammering away at voters that this is the most important election in your lifetime. By refusing to act right, YOU raised the stakes of future elections.

Mike Johnson: "Imagine a scenario where they were in charge and they didn't have the filibuster. We would have nationalized elections, they would infringe on our 2A rights, they'd pack the Supreme Court, and they'd make Puerto Rico and DC states."

the reason you can win a shutdown fight with this guy is that even when he is blaming you for stuff he can’t help take credit for it

his message is the classic abuser “you made do this” but he makes it very clear that in fact it is his choice, because he is the man in charge

he owns this pain

"I am openly defying a court order so I can starve children if Democrats don't let me take healthcare away from millions"

once again we are in 'too evil for a saturday morning cartoon' territory
Trump says the SNAP money that he’s been ordered by a court to release won’t be released until the government shutdown ends.

If nothing else, the last nine months should have made it clear that elections matter. But what’s remarkable about America is that we have the power, as citizens, to change this country by voting. Go to IWillVote.com.

i want to repeat this: mamdani and spanberger have run similar campaigns tailored to their respective electorates and it is maddening to watch political journalists attempt to create some broad contrast where none exist
the other thing about this is that there is no reason to pit these candidates against each other? each are good fits for their respective electorates and each shows the value of vigorous campaigns focused on the stated material problems of voters.

My 11-year-old subscribes to Teen Vogue and reads the newsletters almost daily. It's been a reliable source of news for her, and fodder for thoughtful dinner table discussions.

Now, it will serve a new role in our house--as an opportunity to learn about boycotting companies that let us down.
thank you for all the support; the statement from our union is now live here with some more reporting.

now that this is public I can confirm that the majority of today’s layoffs were women of color. there are no longer any Black women working at Teen Vogue.

The shutdown is shuttering Head Start centers--including 24 that support the migrant farmworkers who form the backbone of our agricultural economy.

Which means that, by refusing to fund healthcare, the GOP is not only hurting kids but also raising prices at the store.
