What's done is done. Trump, without consulting anyone, has demolished the East Wing of the WH. But now he plans to build a ballroom that will almost double the size of the White House residence. Ideally, construction of this monstrosity must be stopped immediately.

Reminder: the systematic removal of children from one national, ethnic, or religious group to another is defined as genocide by the United Nations. Russia, a permanent member of the U.N. Security Council, is committing the crime of genocide.
Republican Rep.Michael McCaul of Texas:

The Russia has abducted at least 20,000 [Ukrainian]children. That is the number we can verify. But every expert I’ve spoken with believes the true figure is far,far higher…

As a father of five,I can’t imagine any of my children being kidnapped

The Supreme Court Is About to Hand Trump Insidious New Powers
Why are the Republican-appointed justices so eager to give the president dictatorial control over the government?

America does not have capital punishment for selling or smuggling drugs and none of these people were arrested or tried. There could have been mountains of cocaine in open view on the deck of the boats and it still would have been murder of unarmed civilians.
Rand Paul just posted this letter from the Coast Guard confirming that 1/4 of the boats they stop carry no contraband. The likelihood that Hegseth & Bradley ordered the murder of innocent civilians is very high.

I no longer believe that Witkoff is stupid. Instead, he follows the Russian and Trumpian worldview, where personal relationships and loyalty are more important than the rule of law. Rules and regulations get in your way, while powerful people in the right places help you to get things done.

Some people, including experts, believe that Trump is being blackmailed by Putin. I think it is much simpler than that: Trump continues to believe he can make a lot of money in Russia.

bsky.app/profile/wins...
Only Trump is desperate for peace in Ukraine, because Putin has convinced him that war is the only thing standing in the way of him making a lot of Russian money. Furthermore, Trump is unwilling to give Ukraine the weapons it needs to win the war because if Russia loses, all that money disappears.

I would say pigsty, but that's unfair to pigs.

Evolution of the police state, where neighbors are encouraged to rat on other neighbors for "criminal" activity. If this is implemented, it won't be long before children are encouraged to snitch on their parents for expressing "unauthorized" political views.
Scott Turner announces a "crime hotline" people can use to snitch on immigrants

WTF is he talking about?

Fiber-optic doesn't work because you can't mix it with copper? Wut?
haha that's great, grandpa.
*continues wheeling him back into a home*
Trump: "Under Boot Edge Edge - another grossly incompetent. Get on his bicycle, ride to work. What they do is they take the fiber optics & they take fiber, try to hook it into copper. And fiber and copper don't mix. You can't do it...you saw that by the helicopter crash. You saw that into the plane"

"Kill them all" has never been a legal order under the USMC, even in a declared war, much less than under these circumstances.
On committing war crimes "I was just following orders" will not save them. Remember the Nuremberg trials? But they can't seem to get their stories straight on who gave the order. Trump? Hegseth? Some rando officer? The international community is bearing down on Trump for this.

It's a longshot, but if Dems can win in TN-7, then Trump 2.0 is officially OVER!
I sometimes think of the multiverse in which Al Gore won in 2000. I wonder what is happening over there

We intended to kill innocents or those "hors de combat" is not a legal defense to murder.
Fox News legal contributor Andy McCarthy knocks down Hegseth's defense:

"Neither Hegseth’s statement nor the explanation attributed to Bradley ... makes legal sense.
...
It cannot be a defense to say, as Hegseth does, that one has killed because one’s objective was 'lethal, kinetic strikes.'"
‘We Intended the Strike to Be Lethal’ Is Not a Defense | National Review
The laws of war, incorporated in the federal war crimes statute, prohibit the killing of people who have been rendered hors de combat.

Noem does not have the right to decide which court rulings she is going to follow or not.

My authority? The Constitution, the separation of powers, Marbury v. Madison, etc.

Her brain is as thick as her lips.
So I guess no one is actually going to hold her accountable for sending innocent people to a concentration camp?
KARL: Did you know about the judge's order when you issued your order for the planes to continue?

KRISTI NOEM: This is an activist judge. We comply with all federal orders that are lawful and binding.

Authorities in Kyiv reveal that for the attack on Vyshhorod, Russia used cluster munitions in the heavily populated area.

All 3 attack drones contained the explosives, which are not illegal but forbidden to use near civilians.

Interesting. This will be a vital resource for keeping track of all of Russia's hybrid war activities inside the EU.
I want to praise @amaragraps.bsky.social for her ambitious Hybrid War tracker.

She's been inputting all data herself. But you can help, by logging things yourself, and just having a look around.

I'm not a military lawyer here, but the example of shipwrecked survivors seems to depend on the context. IF (a big if) they are still considered to be "lawful combatants," do they meet the definition of "shipwrecked?"

My guess is they still are, particularly if they no longer present any threat.
Senator Kelly is correct.

Plus a Public Service Announcement:

KEY section of Department of Defense's Law of War Manual is 18.3.2.1.

The VERY rule on the "requirement" to refuse illegal orders gives as its paradigmatic example of what is "clearly illegal:
"orders to fire upon the shipwrecked."

Ironic and suspicious that an email that espouses the FBI's commitment to "delivery and transparency" contains a large redacted section on what should be redacted from the files!
NEW: Here's a rare look behind the scenes at the FBI's review of the Epstein files in March, based on emails I obtained via #FOIA. Dan Bongino was copied on an email related to "guidance on the types of redactions to apply."

Let me get this straight: Trump has imposed a no-flight zone over Venezuela, but nothing over Ukraine?

Priorities.
