#VA01's Rob Wittman spreads disinformation, refuses to meet anyone but donors, and hands regular Virginians’ $$$ to billionaires. Enough! We can replace him in Nov 2026. Follow us to learn the truth behind his lies and cowardice. linktr.ee/wittmanwatch

Telephone Town Hall on the Government Shutdown to answer your questions. “This call will take place from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. NOTE: The line for the call will not be open until 5:25 pm.” You must sign up ahead of time. This is all we get!

So, Rob, your party has had six months to pass a budget and avoid a government shutdown. You seem surprised that Senate Democrats stood up to try and save ACA premium support for tens of millions of Americans Are you aware that some members of Congress put everyday Americans over fealty to Trump?

And what is Rob Wittman doing about it?

*crickets*
wittmanwatch.bsky.social
Rob proposes the same inane policies every shutdown (Ex: members of Congress lose salary) knowing they have no chance of passage. "Well, I tried." If Republicans hold out, 24M Americans may see insurance premiums increase by up to 300%. Rob could take a more active role but don't hold your breath.

We advise liberal use of this!

Rob Wittman burrows himself into a foxhole to avoid shrapnel. He refuses to condemn his party's dangerous rhetoric and rampant violations of law and the Constitution: illegal deportations, purging the FBI and DOJ, and decimating voting rights. Is Rob aware of what’s happening in his party?

Thanks! Spread the word….we know you will. 😀

Rob Wittman's Virginia: sticking it to poorer retirees

👀 this bit of nasty tucked into the One Big Ugly: making it harder for seniors to enroll in programs that defray out-of-pocket Medicare costs!

💯 HIS fault

In the American system of government, a legislature of the people’s elected representatives decide how to allocate the people’s money, then an unelected appointee in the executive branch called “OMB Director” decides if he feels like distributing the people’s money that way or if he’d rather not.

Folks are wondering about the wisdom of a Dem primary between 9 candidates (as of right now). One of the 9, @votetimva.bsky.social, has thoughts. A worthwhile read for all. We at WittmanWatch aim to show how #VA01 is NOT represented now, so whoever comes next knows how to succeed for all of us.

Comment from an @bluevirginia.bsky.social article about another candidate raising $$$.

I don’t mind this comment– the anonymity yes – but not the substance. It’s on the mind of voters. So let's talk how this mentality is undemocratic + why every community in our district deserves a voice too. 🧵
wittmanwatch.bsky.social
All strong possibilities! We like to keep it simple: he just isn't good enough for #VA01, by any measure. Well, unless you're a billionaire donor or lead a massive corporation. Then he's definitely your guy!
wittmanwatch.bsky.social
Kudos to @seancasten.bsky.social for highlighting this data, by the way!
wittmanwatch.bsky.social
"Does Wittman represent all of #VA01 or just the people who vote for him?" The answer is *he represents NONE of us*, including R voters. Look at the graph. Even 57% of MAGA voters want the ACA credits extended. Wittman ignores all his constituents (except billionaire donors). He's unfit for office.
wittmanwatch.bsky.social
Adams is an R rep from NC, and says out loud what we’ve all known for a while: Wittman won’t hold town halls because he’s unwilling to face his own constituents who are suffering because of his votes and inaction. He’s unfit to represent #VA01.

(Thanks for the tag, @davidhelms570.bsky.social!)

Republicans in Congress are afraid: of their communities, of accountability, of Trump. They answer to him, not their constituents.

There are two possibilities:
1. Wittman lied when he said this stuff.
2. Wittman is not respected by his peers, and his power in Congress is woefully weak.
Either way, he’s unfit to represent #VA01. We will lose *nothing* in replacing him, and have *everything to gain*.

“We will do everything we can” is Wittmanese for “I’m gonna sit back and wait this out. Eventually air traffic controllers will all start calling out sick and my party leadership will cave.”

In early May, Wittman claimed Medicaid spending cuts were a “no go”. Then he voted for HR1 anyway.
Newspaper article, above the fold headline. Sycophantic Loser Republican Congressman Pretends to Care About Constituents Losing Healthcare, but in the end he will vote with his party. He’ll be given a concession that only gets 1/3 of the cuts reduced. Then later he’ll gaslight constituents into believing he stood his ground.
wittmanwatch.bsky.social
He sure did! We believe him because we know he was doing a lot of “work“ at a DC steakhouse earlier this week right as government was shutting down…
wittmanwatch.bsky.social
Rob seems to blame Democrats for the government shutdown over the CR. Republicans support eliminating ACA tax credits, increasing premiums 20% - 50%. Why should Dems believe Republicans are dealing honestly? Would you spend months working out a deal only to have Trump cancel it? We wouldn't either.
wittmanwatch.bsky.social
@lincolnproject.us, this isn’t unusual behavior for Rep Wittman. His MO is performative politics under the guise of being ”a former marine biologist, adopted person, and regular guy“ while he cynically casts destructive votes and sits on his hands. We pick apart his antics. Join us!
wittmanwatch.bsky.social
Wittman's requested that his pay be withheld during the shutdown.Well done! But he knows the law requires him to be paid after a shutdown, unlike federal workers, for whom Congress (so functional and reliable!) will have to authorize payments. Nice symbolism, Rob. How was the $5,000 lunch yesterday?
wittmanwatch.bsky.social
We are dizzy from Wittman's spinning of the Big Brutal Bill. Rob's $50M fund will not replace HR1 cuts, leaving 1.8M residents without Medicaid. Services like mental health, obstetrics, emergency care, and nursing home care, gone. Thanks to RW, rural hospitals may go the way of the corded phone.

The 60-second Subtext this Wednesday:

The shutdown and the gross cowardice and hypocrisy of my congressman, Rob Wittman.

Wittman had the audacity to hold a fundraiser at a high-end steakhouse in DC — 12 hours before the shutdown.

So yes, I'm running to replace him.

True but if they desert the filibuster, that could come back to bite them (and all future majority parties) later. A supermajority is arguably essential for some things - like funding bills - for the sake of our democracy long term. Perhaps it's a red line all should respect? 🤷
wittmanwatch.bsky.social
Wittman knows that Rs created this situation & that he was caught gathering money rather than doing the work he was elected to do to help us. Rob's spinning doesn't fool us, and it shouldn't fool you either.
