For me, customizing the toolbar to my personal needs. I don’t think I’ve run across another platform that allows that. Having the “work environment” and its GUI make sense to me / for me without distractions is very important.

Easily the shiniest facet of Scrivener is how flexible it is accommodating individual writing processes. I too am Team Tism, but I hardly use the note-cards or inspector at all. I flex the platform in different directions.

I remember when it was pretty much just that one dude who would try to cajole people into writing smut, and when they wouldn't, would keep pestering them until they were like "go away" and it was all just for him to say "thanks for ruining my day like everyone else."

At the very beginning of writing fic, my choice was between FFN and AO3. I had accounts at both. Then I ran across "critics united" at FFN and yeeted myself lean out. Only AO3 now. It's not perfect. Nothing is. But I'm happy. :)

shaking. Her eyes locked onto the fire extinguisher on the wall. Now there was an idea. "Good boy, " she wheezed.
The monster shuffled closer, preparing another attack.
The eye on the still human part of its face looked scared and worried, the helpless pilot in the seat of a self-driving car, headed straight for destruction. She felt empathy for that eye
and sadness for what was to come.
There was no time for empathy or hesitation. She ran to-
wards the monster. With a roar, it charged. She stumbled, but managed to turn it into a controlled dive past the creature, ending up behind its back. She struggled to regain her bal-ance. The being hurled itself around. Brutal fingers grabbed her hair.
She screamed, with surprise more than with pain, and lashed out with her dagger. A gash opened in the monster's
belly. It jerked, ripping hair from her scalp as its grip loosened.
She ran, focused on the fire extinguisher, a bright red
beacon of hope, so close, yet so far. The monster's breath grew louder behind her until she could almost feel it against her neck.
Luckily, her unexpected helper was back on his feet. He grabbed the monster from behind, jumping on its back with all his strength, buying Vanessa the time she needed. She ripped the fire extinguisher off the wall and pointed it at the monster's arm, which was moving frantically and not allowing her a clear shot.

“Aye. It’s always ‘just business’.” The lead knuckles smashed into the wall beside his head, cracking the brick, and he yelped again. “People are not a business expense!”

Now she shouted, right in his simpering, whimpering face, before gripping his collar and practically dragging him back toward the ginnel. She couldn’t open the gates to go search for Constable Garderobe. That would leave the scene of the crime to the vagaries of the people of The Stumbles. In truth, Welling hadn’t done anything illegal, but she knew the Watch well. Flash them enough Coin, and Welling had enough on him for that, and they would charge the King with treason.

The trek to Collie Hill had started before sunrise. By the time the lavender of predawn gave way to true morning across the east coast of Tarth, Ser Podrick, Luras, and Odé were already traversing the granite heights. The air there always carried a bite, colder than the west coast of the island, nothing but the Narrow Sea in front of you and Essos beyond.
The mine was no less busy for the early hour. The peal of hammers striking chisels broke the silence of the landscape as men split the granite into clean, squared blocks. The dark stone was then heaved into waiting carts, wheels groaning as they picked their way down the winding road. This place had been Edric Morrigen’s charge once, and the memory of his orderly hand still hung over the hill.
Wigber Caron had inherited Edric’s post and was not shy in reminding one of the fact. Broad across the shoulders, with a face already weathered beyond his years, had been Morrigen's assistant.
“A fortnight was enough for the last Lady’s steward,” Wigber groused, watching as a block was levered onto a cart. “But not Morrigen. He’s got Gust flying back and forth like he’s the only raven in all Westeros. Twice weekly, without fail, ever since Lady Breinee set sail. Poor bird’s wings will wear down to stubs if he keeps on so.”
He jerked a thumb toward the perch lashed to the mine office. There sat Gust, black feathers glossy, one bright eye fixed on the men below. The raven preened, then gave several resounding clucks, clearly rebuking Wigber for speaking disparagingly of him.
Podrick’s smile widened.
Luras chuckled low. “I’d say that bird heard you.”

I'm aware of the "top/bottom" convention (top first, bottom second), but a review of my history of tagging says I very rarely stick to that, so... No, I don't care either way.
