The UK government will conduct a national test of the Emergency Alerts system on Sunday 7 September at 3pm.

Compatible mobile phones and tablets will receive an alert, which will sound like a loud siren and vibrate.

First book read this year was Under The Mistletoe With You by @littlehux.bsky.social - gorgeous follow-up to the wonderful Make You Mine This Christmas. Both books are must-reads if you like Christmas rom-coms!

Ensure you vote, ensure you elect candidates who will defend the LGBT+ community.
SOA members! There are 4 places going on the Management Committee this year (including mine, as my term ends in January). So please, don’t forget to vote before October 25th. We need as many members to vote as possible in order to ensure maximum representation. Your voice matters. Use it!

It is Small Press Day! Support indie comics!

My specific ones include Death of a Necromancer (rural black magic) and FairyFare (urban fairy app), and MORE. Come for the high concept jokes, stay for the surprising emotion.

The best way to do this right now, if you can swing it, is to support your favourite writers’ side gigs. Grab a paid sub for their newsletter, support them on Patreon, buy their self-pubbed projects, etc.

The less they have to rely on publisher money, the more leverage they have in negotiations.

Since publishers seem intent on cutting out writers*, perhaps it's time for readers cut out the publishers. We have the tools for readers to support their favourite authors via direct-to-author payment (newsletters, PayPal, etc.) without filtering profit through publishers. (1/)
