I try not to be needlessly confrontational or cruel, but if someone tells me they're outsourcing the work of grading student writing to AI, I tell them they should either stop or quit their job because they shouldn't be doing it. It's malpractice and not good for their own long term happiness either

Mine is still probably under the seat in a Minneapolis cab - it was a good one tbh 😩

I still remember a buddy playing “Slower” for me off a cassette in his car just after a show we played at Outer Cafe - still in high school I think

When the feedback comes in after the quiet interlude towards the coda…I was immediately hooked. “&Serenading” is still one of my favorite songs ever

Southern slave owners were not "part of the reason why slavery ended" in the United States. The 20th Maine holding Little Round Top at Gettysburg was.

Counterpoint:

You absolutely do not have to hand it to enslavers
Wilson: Now, one of the things I want to do is say: I’m really glad that slavery’s gone, and good riddance. And I want to say that the Southern slave owner, who read the books of Ephesians and Colossians and 1 Timothy and treated his slaves decently, remembering that he had a master in heaven who he studiously tried to obey — what Paul said slave owners were supposed to do — I would say he was not an orc, and he is part of the reason why slavery ended. In other words, I would say he’s a good guy.

In my mind “hey we’re gonna play porchfest” sounds like a casual laid back jam with friends and neighborhood folks but

There’s a friggin spreadsheet with a metric ton of sound system needs that those of us with studios end up having reset for weeks after sussing which cables and stands u lost

After his celebrated new mix of Phil Collins' No Jacket Required, Steven Wilson is now entering his harsh noise period - remixing classic albums by The Rita, Vomir, and Hijokaidan into cinematic Dolby Atmos.

z.B don’t confuse a complex production technique with music that is meaningful ; and for teachers, it takes serious effort to “make the rules explicit” in a way that produces generative energy among students and not a clampdown or confusion

“Correct use does not imply ability to make the rules explicit” is one of many important Wittgensteinian koans for music educators to bear in mind - I need to unpack this in a proper essay (would anyone read it?!) but procedural tendencies fed & rewarded by social media make thus occur too

Our third LP “FEELS LIKE HELL” is OUT NOW via @dongiovannirecords !

This record, this band, exists because of the people who hold us up. The community that listens, that shows up, that makes the noise worth creating. We love you. We’re endlessly grateful.

We have never lived in a more exciting time for music and new musical ideas - but we’ve probably also never lived in an economic climate more directly hostile to musicians and their fans 😅
