how to write comics:
-open that script you're working on
-good job! congratulate yourself, it's now open
-go back to that other tab where you're wasting all that time
-waste a lot of time
-realize you only have an hour left to write and remember the intensity of self-loathing when you don't
-write

I had the pleasure of writing a review of Pig Wife, a sprawling gothic adventure and “weird girl” coming-of-age story set in a not-quite abandoned labyrinth of mine tunnels. This book is an incredible roller coaster ride through a uniquely strange haunted house. 🐷 www.comicsbeat.com/graphic-nove...

doubling down on my reading this year as an act of defiance
2026 is the year we should all start reading books again

Books are lovely. Libraries are wonderful places. Second hand book shops are mysterious and magical. Markets and fairs always contain surprise gems. And there are even cafes in forgotten street corners with excellent coffee and reading nooks

no shame at all, reading with a dictionary beside you makes you a better reader and writer too
This is "funny" on other places on the internet, but I absolutely LOVE to see this!

anything that gets people reading, using their imagination, expanding their vocabulary, and strengthening their critical thinking....DO IT!!

and I love that he's doing it publicly. There's zero shame

often when blockbuster nostalgia comes up, we all point out that there were much better local video stores, but saying 'i miss blockbuster' is just shorthand, because everyone knows blockbuster, while very few people know Flix Video in Glendale Heights, Illinois

i had a friend who worked at blockbuster when we were in high school and it was great because blockbuster was open until midnight and after a certain hour it just turned into our hangout movie lounge

also blockbuster after 9 p.m. on weekends was the best people watching in the suburbs
I know nostalgia for Blockbuster is a thing. I don’t really remember it that way. I remember it having fewer movies than the stores I went to as a kid. But I worked at Blockbuster when I was 17.

Here are some things that happened while I was there.
