Altman has been quite clear about his strategy.

From the 2008 crash he learned that if you bind enough of the economy to your business you can do whatever you like; government will decide the rules no longer apply.

What he's selling is unaccountabilty.

I honestly don’t get the value of this company. They hoover up energy and water. Their product constantly gets things wrong and, in extreme cases, coaches people into suicide.

And it’s all built on what seems to be malicious and vast intellectual property theft.

This stresses me out so much. I already do my best to avoid places in stores where foot traffic is likely because that level of sustained social prediction is incredibly stressful and draining. Just let me be the cryptid I was born to be…

Yesterday I said that I abhorred views expressed by Nick Fuentes—and that the best way to fight antisemitic ideas was to challenge them head on. Fuentes replied on X by saying “I don’t know what exactly you ‘abhor’ about my views.” Allow me to elaborate—because there is plenty to condemn. First, the @Heritage Foundation and I denounce and stand against his vicious antisemitic ideology, his Holocaust denial, and his relentless conspiracy theories that echo the darkest chapters of history. We are disgusted by his musings about rape, women, child marriage, and abusing his potential wife. Fuentes made grotesque analogies to try to cast doubt on the murder of six million Jews during the Holocaust and has said “I think the Holocaust is exaggerated. I don't hate Hitler.” Fuentes called for the death penalty for “perfidious Jews” and other non-Christians, stating that “when we take power, they need to be given the death penalty.” Fuentes praised Hitler and in the Tucker interview said he is a “Stalin admirer.” Fuentes stated that his goal is “total Aryan victory” and claimed that "black people should be in prison for the most part." This is but a sampling of his vile daily rhetoric. Racism and antisemitism are not relics of the past. They have blossomed on the Left on university campuses and grown on the Right through figures like Fuentes. Nick Fuentes's antisemitism is not complicated, ironic, or misunderstood. It is explicit, dangerous, and demands our unified opposition as conservatives. Fuentes knows exactly what he is doing. He is fomenting Jew hatred, and his incitements are not only immoral and un-Christian, they risk violence.

If the OP author truly believed that then I challenge them to think about why it is they decided to defend LLMs rather than agreeing with and extending the prior utterance they responded to (like an LLM would).

That's a very dismissive construct of LLMS, IMHO. Yes they are stochastic and yes they are 'robotic' but here's a sentence for you to ponder: Humans are just advanced language output algorithms that spit out returns based on input and their reference library.

8 Do not Embrace AI In this paper, we unpacked why we think psychologists need to be on high alert — not just to avoid another replication crisis, but to avoid the total collapse of our science. What we signpost in Table 1 may have been novel to readers until this point, but the deeper problems are absolutely known. Also, as Crystal Steltenpohl et al. (2023, pp. 9–10) state: “Intentions alone are not enough to move science forward. Creating responsible, considered processes for rigorously transparent open science requires involving interested parties from a wide range of backgrounds, perspectives, research areas, and training paradigms.” Indeed, because many such warnings go unheeded — such as the need for a cultivation of shared values and especially the principles of impartiality of researchers and academic freedom from corporate influence — we find ourselves in polycrises that affect our universities, political systems, planet, and ultimately all humanity. “When historians of science look back on the 2010s in social and personality psychology, the decade will likely stand out as a period of exceptional doubt and self-scrutiny in the field.” (Schiavone & Vazire, 2023, p. 710) Why did we ever stop? Should we ever stop? Importantly, Hazel Rose Markus (2005, p. 180, emphasis added) explains that: “Social psychology is often defined as the study of how people respond to and are influenced by other people” Algorithms, chatbots, LLMs, machines, models, inanimate objects are not people — they are the products of people (Guest, 2024, 2025). And to paraphrase Rae Carlson (1984): What’s social about chatbots? Where’s the person in an LLM? We must sure up our subfields from the slow but certain corrosive power wielded by the harmful nonsense that is modern displacement AI. To sit idly by while deskilling and displacing of our students, participants, and selves is normalised — or worse still to profit from it — serves not science but the technology sector, which avoids criticism and self-reflection and prefers pseudoscience and misinformation.
