It sounds like comically specific hyperbole but it is verifiably true that in the same year Elon Musk predicted fully autonomous taxis serving half the nation, what actually happened was his chatbot became a pedophile

🤔Any sensible suggestion for gun control, becomes, "They're trying to take away our guns! This is war!"

Any sensible suggestion for reducing car dependency becomes, "They're trying to take away our cars! This is war!"

Reflexive paranoia and readiness to fight the cities that support them is weird.
Taking away our cars can, should, and will be treated as a declaration of war upon rural America.
I find "America isn't really set up for it" to be an annoying rebuttal to any sort of proposal to reduce car dependency. Our leaders used policy to create a system of car dependency and we can sure as hell use policy to undo that. There are absolutely barriers, but do nothing is not a solution.

The only reason people think he’s so smart is bcz he does ridiculous shit like this and succeeds. Recognizing strategies and tactics of opposition is essential part of organizing. When we are organized we understand their plays so we can stop them.
“Elon Musk admitted to his biographer that the reason the Hyperloop was announced—even though he had no intention of pursuing it—was to try to disrupt the California high-speed rail project to get in the way of that actually succeeding.” — @parismarx.com in @gizmodo.com

He’s always been this way.
Silicon Valley's Push Into Transportation Has Been a Miserable Failure
The titans of tech brought plenty of disruption to our broken transportation system but delivered little in the way of innovation.

any time anyone tells me they live in rural america i immediately assume what they actually mean is a suburb 20 miles outside a city, with an HOA that they or their ancestors moved to because of white flight

For folks still struggling with the math:

There are ~345 million US citizens.

There are ~245 million white US citizens.

This is what they mean by "Peaceful ethnic cleansing." Their plan ends with deporting all non-white people.

Not "undocumented criminals."

Not even "all undocumented people."
This should not be shrugged aside. They have stopped with the fake 22 million illegal immigrants things and are flat out saying we want to deport 10's of millions of citizens and legal residents from "third world countries" Basically they are advocating removing 1/3 of the population on a gov site.

Given the significance of right-religious authoritarian politics, it is fascinating how much the news media asks *promoters of those ideals* to explain the dynamic rather than those who left the movements.
AND ANOTHER THING

If you are talking about how white peopel MAY have been misled and the web of propaganda

( which you should)

Why are yall going back and forth with journalists and not exvangelicals? Or former Republicans

Or the number of younger former Mormon/ Quiverful folks

Yes, if you speak out against ICE they'll say you're a lunatic who wants to open the floodgates to scary immigrants. The correct response isn't cowering in a corner, it's asking whether people want to be terrorized by armed masked thugs as a part of daily life

If you're a Democrat, you're a sucker if you imagine this agency has anything to do with immigration. It is--and aspires to be!--a fascist paramilitary goon squad. You should start saying so and lay the groundwork for starving it of funding when you take power

And ultimately as I said before, they don't care if people believe the lie

it gives cover for the evil and violence they are going to do, under a cloak of false righteousness

and they, the nazis, sincerely hope for this to stir up the violence they want against such groups.

I am a mid-40s black man.

This has always been their country I’ve lived in. It’s been the country you’ve lived in as well, you just refuse to acknowledge it.
Say this is true, that the majority of people who voted in the last election are irredeemable bigots who will only vote for white supremacy.

How, exactly, are we taking the country back then?
Where those 77 million people, who casted their vote for Trump, comatose from January 16th, 2017 through January 18th, 2021?

If your answer is “no” then stop trying to say they’re “extremely uninformed people” and call them out for being the bigots they are.

"What a year for the ultra wealthy. The world’s 500 richest people added a record $2.2 trillion to their collective fortunes in 2025’s… booming markets, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. And about a quarter of this year’s gains went to just eight billionaires.” — Bloomberg Morning Brief
