Here's Council Member Cashman last night anticipating the tactic. She wanted to adjourn "so the mayor and his staff have time to veto any ordinances" because it's the council's last scheduled meeting of the year. Which means they have no opportunity to override.

Friends, we have some positive news tonight out of the Constitution, Bylaws, and Rules Committee re: the DFL Feminist Caucus.
The TL;DR of it is the entire feminist caucus leadership has to either undergo extensive training, or resign within 10 days.

This is disgusting and below the DFL. I think Madel is bad for a bunch of reasons, but representing people charged with crimes is not one of them. Standing between the power of the State and a criminal defendant is an honorable thing no matter what they're accused of or whether they're found guilty.
Minnesota democrats issued a statement attacking their opponent solely on the basis of his criminal defense work. They essentially cite fulfilling the requirements of our Constitution as evidence of lacking a moral compass. A reminder that the erosion of the rule of law can come from all directions.

Can we stop acting like "playing by the rules" is some sort of unquestionable virtue? We are SUBJECT to rules/laws, many of which specifically designed to disempower and impoverish us. There's nothing virtuous about advocating following immoral, unethical, exploitative, or corrupt rules (incl laws).
