I was in an American factory a couple of months ago. Met some great people. Hard workers. Every machine on the production lines was Italian. An Italian guy flies in to service them. Just one example of how reliant the USA is on other countries. And other countries are turning away. Trouble ahead.

Ireland urgently needs to look at how its economy can survive with a greatly diminished international sector from the USA. Capital expenditure to reduce ongoing costs is vital. But does our government think in the long term?

Having another listen to Blackstar ten years after we lost the lovely David Bowie. It’s one of my favourite albums of his. I love its oddness and am always amazed that it’s so unique from a 69 year old who still had musical curiosity and more to give.
