But doing those sub-divisions is a pain to manage, so you only do it if you have time and it matters. Lots of racing games would sub-divide the street so it would look good, but some random game, especially mech games with big scale, can't afford to do it everywhere.

They sub-divide any large surface into smaller and smaller triangles, so that even if there's some warp, the warp effect per triangle is very slight.
The larger the triangle the worse the warp, which is a consequence of the model and how close you get to it.

Yup. As you can see in your follow up image, if the perspective is very perpendicular, then the image looks about right. So the more oblique the angle, the worse the inaccuracy.
And then the thing is, devs were hip to this being a thing. So a lot of PS1 games effectively use tessellation.

This is basically proof that healthcare needs to be nationalized. We could save lives... but it won't be profitable enough.
There needs to be some serious accountability for the colossal harm to life these absolute demons have caused, and will cause. Life in prison is the moderate option.
