Yup, I am a radical.

Apparently that means wanting others to be able to be themselves without fear of persecution (particularly women, LGBTQ+, religious freedom), and to be able to survive and thrive in a sustainable world.

Yeah.
Radical.

Last night I closed all my open tabs on Hollow Knight, after yet another failed run trying to defeat to hard mid-boss just to open an additional game ending.

I think my time is more important, and heck there are more games to play out there.

I've drawn 40+ cats reading books for authors and readers both.

$75 for a drawing of any cat (your cat, friend's cat, imaginary cat) reading any book (literary fiction, beach read, comics, academic treatise). You get the digital illustration file.

Makes a great Holiday gift. (Just sayin'.)

Someone at work asked me "Who's Tim?"
Me, being the flippant nerd, said he's an enchanter.

I don't think they got the reference.

I am not intelligent or well read enough to have the answer, but I often wonder what this land would have been like if the 1982 Canadian Constitution, which the non-withstanding clause is housed in, never came to be.

Just a reminder that the notwithstanding clause is used when a government knows what they are doing not only is against people's Charter rights, but also is not a reasonable limit justified in a free and democratic society under section 1. #cdnpoli #ableg
Alberta's justice minister has tabled a bill to invoke the notwithstanding clause to shield a suite of legislation from legal challenges. The laws in question restrict the rights of transgender people in access to health care and sports, and affect K-12 education of all students.

Why on earth am I reading yet another book on writing? To be inspired?

I've felt the world has told me I am not a writer nor ever will be one.

But I am also dumb, stubborn, and even sometimes, hopeful.

Or will he double down with a few beers despite how bad an idea it is?

I’m a writer and I write about war and conflict; I spend 80% of my reading time on primary sources. The impact of violence and war on people—not just soldiers but civilians and families—is terrible and lasts generations. For Remembrance Day, honour the fallen, but remember war and its costs.

I saw a few memorials in Paris earlier this year for the 2 World Wars; the 1st in La Gare du Nord, the 2nd outside the Musee d'Art Moderne. Both beautiful and haunting, leaving me to reflect then, as I do now, on the futility and tragedy of war.

May we never forget the sacrifices made by others.

Sometimes the world is shite and you don't feel great, so you have a good chocolate chip cookie.

Yeah, the world is still shite.

But at least you had a good cookie, and sometimes that's the minor victory of existence you have.
