This is just the motion to discharge, in one of two houses of Congress—but as an expression of doubt/concern about the Venezuela intervention, it is unexpected and a big deal.

The Rs may be Collins, Hawley, Murkowski, Paul, and Young, but not 100% sure.

A Black man named Keith Porter was shot and killed by an ICE officer on New Year’s Eve.

Marimar Martinez was shot five times by an ICE officer in Chicago who went on to brag about leaving seven holes in her body.

This is not new but it is expanding.
Your reminder that what happened to Renee Nicole Good is something that happens regularly in America. This is not new, but it is an expanded version of militarized people targeting Black people in particular.

From ICE detention to murder with impunity, we've been doing it. Now it's broadened.

Wrote a piece for @slate.com explaining that states have a long history of prosecuting federal officers when they allegedly use excessive force. Federal officers are only immune from such prosecutions when they act reasonably in carrying out lawful duties.

State prosecutions are good and need to happen, but worth flagging there are lots of other things states can do. One of them would be cutting off all state assistance of any kind to federal law enforcement. Not just the limited sanctuary laws. Full cold stop, nothing. Also no data sharing, e.g. DMV.

We’re investigating the role of oil companies in the U.S. government's operations in Venezuela.

President Trump admitted to notifying Big Oil — not Congress — before capturing President Maduro. The public must know what influence private companies have over major geopolitical actions.
Reporter: Did you speak with the oil companies before the operation? Did you tip them off?

Trump: Before and after. They want to go in and they’re going to do a great job.

Here's what I can say—

I don't have any confidence the Trump Administration has a realistic plan.

America is strongest when we have friends and allies around the world, not when we try to extort other countries.

Remember: Federal officials do not enjoy categorical, absolute immunity from state-level prosecutions. They are entitled to removal to federal court. But conduct that is unreasonable or unnecessary for the execution of their law enforcement duties is susceptible to criminal prosecution.
