SCOOP: Last year, Ubisoft cancelled an Assassin's Creed game set during Reconstruction. Was to feature a Black Assassin who, among other things, fought the rise of the Klan

Sources: Leadership nixed it over concerns re: U.S. political climate, backlash to Yasuke

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

Imagine Krueger making polite small-talk while viciously murdering all those teenagers and tell me that isn’t 100 times creepier than the original.

More history from this Nazi adulated by the Trump team. These are explicit, proud Nazis who scream and cry and call every referee they can find when you quote their Nazism back to them.

"Bad faith" means they *don't* think the Palestinian flag is toxic - they just know *lying* about that helps their cause.

You can't decouple a national flag from nationalism. That "context" is not in your power to control. The volume of non-white/non-English ppl opposing this should give you pause.

Because of the unforgivably appalling decisions of the Charity Commission, these hate groups, Sex Matters and LGB Alliance, are funded from your taxes.

On a national stage, Kate Barker, CEO of the LGB Alliance, called Trans+ healthcare “grotesque”

When a charity leader uses such extreme and hostile language about life-saving care and Trans+ people, it raises serious questions about the group’s charity status and it's influence on government

Just as a reminder, Bondi’s origin story in Trump world is that she said she was going to investigate Trump University, Trump sent her a $25K check and the investigation disappeared. She later became Trump’s personal defense lawyer. So yeah, don’t challenge her integrity.

This is a lie.

There are many criticisms you might sensibly and truthfully make of the Sentencing Council and the Sentencing Guidelines. I’ve been making them for years.

But this is an outright lie. Pure fabrication. A fraud on the public.

There’s a lot of this about. Stop trying to guilt the left into voting for a Labour Party that hates us and shapes its policies towards people that hate them

Reform voters are largely Tory voters.
What will gain Reform the election is Labour voters decamping to the Lib Dems and the Greens. Good work!

This is the Prime Minister refusing the most basic function of his office: protecting British citizens. Has anything like this ever happened before, where a government has simply shruggged its soldiers & abandoned its own citizens to a foreign power saying 'that's not my problem'?

NHS increased use of the private sector under Labour govt.

Private sector delivered 22.1% of ophthalmic, 20.5% of orthopaedic procedures.

Numbers of NHS patients treated by private sector up by 10%.

With profit margins of up to 40% money buys less.

More efficient to expand NHS capacity.

Two things felt different to the ppl I spoke with who’d been protesting at the ICE building for months.

1st was the sheer volume of tear gas, pepper balls and flash-bangs used, seemingly unprovoked.

2nd was seeing so many videographers/live-streamers embedded with the feds as they marched out.

the right to peaceful protest (even when you don’t like the cause or the protestors or how often they do it) is not a gap in the law, it’s called living in a free democratic state.

"Anti-immigrant march" is such a telling phrase. An immigrant is just a person who exercises the freedom they are born with, which is recognised by all human rights legislation, and moves across imaginary lines on the ground. Being "anti-immigrant" means anti-movement, anti-freedom and anti-person.

People... are allowed to come up with mean names for inanimate objects. If you compare this practice to racial slurs, I'm going to think you believe people of other races hold the same concrete significance and value as inanimate objects. This is one of those slips that does not look good on anyone.
