Stephen Miller is of Ashkenazi Jewish descent. His great-grandparents inhabited the Pale of Settlement (western Russia where Jews were allowed to live) and escaped Russian pogroms and the Holocaust. All the same racist, xenophobic, ignorant things he is saying were said about his own family.

It's hard to imagine a human being less "legitimate" than Stephen Miller. He is bathed in evil and against all that this country has ever stood for. The idea that our policies are in his scaly hands is a shanda. I wish deeply for the inelastic universe to serve him appropriately, and soon.

The reason for military rules of engagement and adhering to laws of armed combat is not “political correctness,” it’s better strategy, serves long-term national interest, and is a way to make an awful part of the human experience a little less awful, based on lessons learned from centuries of blood.

I don't love using "blood libel" to describe anything other than the actual historical phenomenon of accusations against Jews of ritually killing Christian children. But if anything in modern political discourse structurally resembles a blood libel, it's Vance accusing Haitians of eating cats.

Interesting moment to see whether Bondi decides to destroy her legal legacy forever or reverts to the 5% of her that maintains some form of ethics and norms. She's still young and will want a career when this clown show ends, but she also knew what she was signing up for.
