a real aficionado of junk food art is comfortable with their tastes and also engages with art outside that bubble. an insecure lover of junk rages and whines at anything they perceive as more rarefied and demands culture recognize and praise their chosen slop.

Sorry, more Wolfepilled posting as I crack The Short Sun. I wish more genre authors realised that an unreliable narrator's purpose is not to gotcha the audience with a twist, but to enhance the story with what's left out or occluded, as well as give the narrator more character and flavour.

In New Orleans, Eric Adams is set to receive the "Medal of Mayoral Honor" for his “exceptional leadership in the fight against antisemitism."

The group honoring him is promoting a policy framework that treats mainstream criticism of Israel as hate speech.

A Dark Money Network is Recruiting U.S. Mayors to Criminalize Pro-Palestine Speech
Right-wing mega-donors are flying mayors to an all-expenses-paid summit in New Orleans, where they’ll push a policy framework that codifies mainstream criticism of Israel as “antisemitic.”

It's so wild to me that Black Library used to be the imprint for pulpy bolter porn with a few genre-bending stand outs, and now it's consistently a well I go back to for everything from gay eldar corsair romances to autistic space skeleton pharaohs to goblin socialist revolutionaries.

I would go as far as to say it’s actually an important trait to being a good artist, to have a firm sense of who and what you don’t like and what you don’t want to do.

Anecdotally on twitter seeing a big shift the last few days from every AI slop account saying every other creative field is “over” and they’re in control now to now posting about how nobody likes them and it’s not fair and they’ll persevere and real artists respect and uplift eachother

Finding inspiration in the creative suffering this documentary is already making me feel. I would love for this to document how easy things came together for this team but there is a feeling of “of course, this shouldn’t be easy…right?” You don’t have to suffer for art but resilience, that’s key.

There is a direct correlation between how fake your job is and how much value you see in AI
A study by Dayforce shows 87% of executives use AI for work, compared to 57% of managers and just 27% of employees.

I think this explains the massive disconnect we see in how CEOs talk about AI versus everyone else. It also raises the question of how useful it truly is for frontline work?
Execs are embracing AI more than their employees are, new research suggests
Research from HR software company Dayforce suggests that executives are leaning into AI far more than their employees.

I'm really enjoying The Long Sun more than I thought I would. It hasn't sunk claws into my brain the same way as New Sun, but Silk is an absolutely delightful character who elevates every conversation he's in. He reminds me a lot of Brutha from Small Gods, but more Moses than Jesus flavoured.
