You always risk bumping into some vile cretins in the metalhead community, but it's definitely worth it whenever you run across stuff like the Bolt Thrower guys chasing nazis with baseball bats or Sanders of Nile auctioning off merch to pay for medical care for a beagle found on the side of the road

I don't want to downplay how difficult and bloody the struggle against fascism has been and will continue being, but stuff like this is why I have faith that they will eventually lose. Not even to leftist solidarity, but because the normal human thing to do is to try and help someone in strife.

I booted up Final Fantasy Tactics this weekend with the idea that I'd have a chill, casual playthrough for nostalgia's sake, and made it about 2 battles in before something terrible unlocked in my soul and I started mapping out the entire party's 4-act JP/EXP farming progression. With spreadsheets.

For decades Zionism served as a kind of political cheat code, where the most vile antisemitic bigots could launder themselves into respectability by supporting a right-wing settler-colonialist state. Watching that break down in real time in a couple months has been astounding.
I've been thinking about this a lot, for months: Gaza was a breaking point between verifiable reality and liberal governance. "AI" sparks fears ppl will believe things that aren't true, but Gaza SHOWED things that WERE true—& western governments, universities & news outlets pretened they were not.
What did we think Trump was going to do, if Europe showed him we would fully collaborate on the total destruction of the Gaza Strip and ferociously repeat even the most absurd lies about it to our citizens? Did we think he would decide: best to not push the law breaking and war crimes, be sensible.

I've been pretty down on a lot of NuTrek, but don't hate Starfleet Academy. It probably helps that the characters written like weepy teenagers are actually meant to be teenagers and not 40, and Giamatti and Hunter do some heavy lifting, but... not bad. Lura Thok is instantly iconic.
