Ditched birdsite soon after Nov 2022. Wandered through the wilderness of Mastodon Post Substack Threads and finally here.
UK News and politics.
I will start posting and writing more here, but for personal reasons mostly some random thoughts or even borderline gibberish. It may not make sense to you, but a vent for me and for my well-being.

It will take time to sort out the chaos in my mind to begin to sound coherent. So bear with me.

To be clear: deportations to increase cultural homogeneity is the text book definition of ethnic cleansing. Demands that come even close to this are so far outside any democratic norm and the rule of law. What has happened to a country when this is not condemned in the strongest possible terms?

For people saying US citizens just need to show their IDs to avoid being stopped in immigration raids:

This man did. Agents told him it was fake.
Venegas, who specializes in laying concrete foundations, says he was detained both times despite showing his Alabama-issued REAL ID driver’s license — a higher-security identity card available only to U.S. citizens and legal residents.

“London is the greatest city in the world, safer than major US cities, and we’re delighted to welcome the record number of US citizens moving here.”
Trump to the UN: "I have to say, I look at London where you have a terrible mayor -- terrible terrible mayor -- and it's been so changed, so changed. Now they want to go to Sharia Law ... both their immigration and their suicidal energy ideas will be the death of Western Europe."

Reform's ‘plan’ to revoke the legal status of millions of UK residents is morally abhorrent & economic madness

The public believe in fairness & mutual respect, not this cruel Trumpian policy that would leave us all poorer. We are not America - we must resist this dangerous turn in British politics.

As well as the fantasy £234 bn, journalists should also be clear Farage's claims most new migrants don't work, and those who do are on low wages, are entirely false.

In fact, 1.8 million recent migrants are on payrolls (others will be self employed).

It was obvious when EU citizens had the terms of their settlement here retrospectively revoked that a precedent was being set and that, in time, the argument would move on to other categories of migrant, always tending towards a purity test of who is ‘indigenous’. Unless resisted.

“They have legal rights and are our friends, neighbours and colleagues, contributing hugely to our city.

Amazing to go from ‘not a racist’ to ‘they breed like rabbits’ in the space of two paragraphs.
This, from The Londoner yesterday, also features people on the march who claim not to be racists. Though the things they say prove otherwise
