Over last couple of years I've noticed retailers calling out "Welcome In!" as customers arrive. Nice and friendly, I have no problem with it, just ... it seems new to me. Have you always heard this at shops, or did some retail adviser put out a blog post about it in 2023? Is it post pandemic?

So when the #AmericanGestapo says their arrests involve people committing crimes, they are technically correct. But the criminals are in ICE, not Home Depot parking lots or street taco stands.
Not only is ICE snatching hard working people who are trying to earn a living, they’re taking their money too?

we all got cowed into avoiding "virtue signaling" as if the public affirmation of socially agreed upon ethical principles was somehow cringey instead of a significant part of what a "society" even is. now all there's left is vice signaling, and it's reshaping society.

Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.
The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.
