Brave. Intelligent. Credible. Should anything like that ever happen in my institution remind me I reposted this.
NIH is losing so may good people. First they were fired or RIFd or pressured to retire early.

Now they are leaving because “no longer lend our credibility to an organization that has lost its integrity.”

Proud to know these brave scientists!

The NIH has lost its scientific integrity. So we left
“We can no longer lend our credibility to an organization that has lost its integrity,” write four scientists and administrators who recently resigned from the NIH.

Folks look at you like you're crazy when you say we're in the midst of the worst, most unprecedented Article I constitutional crisis in American history, & then it's Saturday.
Rep. Angie Craig: "We were told because this facility is being funding by the 'Big Beautiful Bill,' not the congressional appropriations act, that we would not be allowed to enter the facility. That's complete nonsense ... I informed them they were violating the law. They said they didn't care."

For months, Trump’s DHS has wreaked lawless havoc in our neighborhoods. Tear gassing infants, families, and police. Firing their weapons at peaceful citizens. Killing innocent people.

It’s brutal, unconstitutional, and out of control.

It must stop.

Kristi Noem must go. Now.

“Imagine telling the parent of a child who senselessly died from a measles outbreak that they must ‘be civil’ and ‘respectful’ to the anti-vaxxers in their community who contributed to reduced herd immunity, endangering their family” 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I had a Facebook tiff yesterday with someone who came to the defense of the Trump Admin's public health folks on the reckless changes to the vaccine schedule, defending Jay on the grounds of his commitment to respectful civic discourse.

I had thoughts. mirandayaver.substack.com/p/bless-thei...

Nixon insisted the bombing of Cambodia was just targeting Viet Cong outposts there and not meant to undermine its government, but the bombings destabilized the Lon Nol government and paved the way for the Khmer Rouge’s killing fields and the massacre of more than a million people.
NBC's sources said that "the potential mission in Mexico is not designed to undermine the Mexican government." But that's what it will do if the US is doing CIA drone strikes on Mexican soil over the objections of the president.

Trump promised no “new stupid wars,” yet he’s starting one with Venezuela without congressional approval.

People can’t afford groceries and millions are losing healthcare, but this is where his focus is.

This is unconstitutional and not what the American people asked for.

Replace the current POs (mostly qualified and competent scientists) by political appointees and here you have it ... Cronyism that will breed more cronyism, projects funded based on regime alignment, not scientific merit ... and US scientific research flushed down the drain.
Very much reads like they are significantly reducing the influence of peer review on scientific funding, which under the current regime opens the way for more politicized funding instead.
NSF now planning to let POs largely decide what gets funded, and to send PIs reviews that are only 3-5 sentences long. They don't have to use outside reviewers (except maybe 1) and don't have to convene panels. (1/5)
