So this sweetheart, this goddess, this ethereal being of light, gets me a goddamn Squishmallow with MY GODDAMN NAME ON IT for our Valentine's Day "Not a Valentine's date".

It was so sweet and beautiful and thoughtful, I almost cried 🥹

Was listening to an interview with Richard Seymour this weekend and he was asked if he thought technology inherently leans right and he said "it leans stupid which leans right"

How is it 2025, and I'm having to tell a colleague that 'poofter' isn't a word he should be calling anyone.

...let alone one of his grandkids.

Had a first date with another trans woman last night.
For two quite neurodivergent people, we had no trouble with eye contact lol (it was so cute actually lol ☺️). Ended with milkshakes by the beach, chilling, telling stories, spilling our souls, stealing gazes.

God we're beautiful stereotypes lol

the number of calls needed to make the point that a given vote will cost them is lower than we think, a powerful argument in favor of focusing our energies. you take issue A. I take B. someone else takes C. we make our weekly rounds. no one has to deal with the whole firehose at once
The news sometimes gives you the impression that government is an unstoppable steamroller, but it’s not. The admin is trying a “shock and awe” because they can only win by tricking people into giving up.
I recently reposted a former congressional staffer who said that when an issue got 20-30 calls it would get representatives freaked out and ready to do something. It takes less than you’d think, because so few people actually take that kind of action

Not quite the platonic ideal of a woman (tbh who is?), but last night was the first time I saw 'her' completely. Not just a brief glimpse in my face, or recognition that my shape is different... the whole person.

Fuck. There she is at last 🥺😭

Update: after some cutesy flirting over text, we have a wine date this Wednesday.

And, because I have no chill, I said I'd ask around for recommended venues for a second date... before we'd even finalised details for the first lol
Me: "I think colouring in tattoos would be fun. It's cute, gentle, kinda intimate, and probably relaxing for both people:

New friend I've made at this speed dating night: "actually, I'd love it if you coloured my tattoos"

Me, when I finally get home: "...wait, what?!"

Australia has a long history of violence and genocide.
This country tries to hide it instead of being better and actually caring about Indigenous & Torres Strait Islanders.
I wish things would change.
Each year i hope things will be better.
2023 Australia voted no for indigenous voices to be heard

We’re going to see any expression of virtue in the face of vice depicted by legacy media as a vicious attack on an innocent victim

I think this is more of a standard fascist power play.

Vacillate between threatening and 'saving' organisations will keep them fawning in order to stay in his good books.

Expect to see more of this.

One of the strange things to happen since starting to transition has been my language. I started calling people (well, friends) "sweetie", and didn't realise until a friend asked if I was putting it on. Same with 'lovely'. And now 'hon', mostly when showing comfort ("Aw, you ok hon?")

Went to a 'Speed Friending' event at our local queer bar last night. I've found it way easier to make friends since transitioning, and thought I'd try expanding beyond the existing circles & tangents I run in.

And it was great! Obv not everyone was my cup of tea, but I had more hits than misses

Actually I think I’m more depressed about watching the core efforts of my life over the past half-decade - to help build a world where my trans community could thrive - just wither and die in the span of a year
I really desperately miss owning a car and having that hobby today.

I say this as a leftist Jew who has been anti-zionist for a long time. Please listen to us
It is true both that anti-zionism isn't anti-Semitism and also that anti-Semitism has soared to terrifying levels and leftists tend to dismiss Jews when they say this
This just isn’t true. There are definitely right wingers who do this, but there IS antisemitism on the left. I don’t know if you’re Jewish, but I know that I have experienced it. So have a LOT of leftist/non-Zionist Jews.

I always go to my dad for reassurance by asking “things looked super grim and unsolvable like this in 1968-1969 right?” And he always refuses to coddle and says “nah this seems much worse.” Swell.

this is a masculinity problem, amplified by a gun problem

Watching people on tv talk about how losing a girlfriend and losing a job are stressors that can play a part in motivating a mass shooter and nobody’s talking about the fact that women lose jobs and relationships too and it literally almost never ends in mass murder.

If COVID19 was the climate crisis in fast-forward, I guess we're somewhere around mid-February 2020, in climate terms?

It still hasn't sunk in, but it is starting to sink in, and it doesn't feel good at all.
