The streateries disappear on 18th street -- a series of photos taken about 5 weeks apart. Where there was once room for 20 or so people to eat, now there's room for just a single car to park.

Kinda sucks how one day you’ll post stuff like “does the Grinch use the toilet?” and then the next it has to be “I reject those who worship death”

When I lived in Nashville I sadly didn’t have great bike infrastructure near me, but now living in DC where there are protected bike lanes everywhere, I always feel such joy and connection with the city by getting to most of my destinations by bike
Blasting music on the way to work on this bike is one of life’s great joys. Everyone should get to live a couple of miles from their destinations with relatively safe bike routes if they choose.

An agent of the state murders an American, and government leaders rush to media to call the victim a "domestic terrorist" before any pretense of an investigation. We are so far down the fascist hole.

If you let him get away with this, he’ll do it with Iran and whatever other neocon bugaboos have been lingering around conservative media since Obama first started running. Maybe Greenland but less intense because white. One of them will invariably respond in the mainland U.S. Stop him before then.

I’m thinking this morning about all the people I spoke to last year who were absolutely convinced, and tried to convince me, that Trump would be antiwar compared to Biden and Harris.

In the past week alone he has attacked Nigeria and then Venezuela and also threatened to attack Iran (again).

People are going to try and lure you into debates about whether Maduro was a good guy or not and the thing is, it doesn’t matter for the purposes of discussing whether violent kidnappings and extrajudicial murders by the US government are ok. No, they aren’t! End of convo.

So we’re just announcing foreign strikes and kidnappings of foreign leaders on social media now? No Congress. No explanation.

This is madness.

Of all the inexplicable, shocking, disorienting events of this decade, the Nashville "Downtown" Christmas morning RV bombing and the national media's almost complete refusal to pay any real attention to it remains at or near the top of the list.
This is a really good, comprehensive look at how 2nd Ave is STILL getting built back, 5 years after that guy blew up his RV in the street and the media mostly just moved on a few days later.

(also, the headline says “unexplained”, but if you read all the way to the end……it’s basically explained)
