for real though, who’s the audience for this? who’s the pro-corruption constituency?
Jeffries: "The border is secure. That's a good thing. It happened on his watch. He wants to claim credit for it, of course he'll get credit for that. In terms of making sure that we actually deal with the issues that matter, including on immigration, there's a lot that's left to be desired."

saw this photo just now on CNN’s year in pictures

such a perfect snapshot of America…two old white men who can’t even walk celebrating as they wreak havoc on the republic, knowing they won’t be around to suffer the consequences of their actions
Sen. Mitch McConnell and Sen. Jim Justice high five as they wheel by at the Senate subway elevator.

Thing is, we DID hear about it at his confirmation hearing.

Every single senator who voted to confirm Hegseth knew he held these views about the laws of war.

They voted to confirm him anyway.
Everyone should read this terrifying thread about Hegseth’s published views wrt war crimes. It’s pretty fucking radical …. We needed to hear about this in his confirmation hearing.
A chapter in Hegseth’s book is literally titled “More Lethality, Less Lawyers.”

It’s almost as if there were signs!

Judgment at Nurember is excellent!
this movie has its moments, is well acted, etc but you will get a lot more out of Judgment at Nuremberg (1961), a stone cold classic about how a fascist justice system can itself be put on trial in times of necessity
Great time to release a good old Nuremberg Trial movie

who knows - maybe the most prominent ICC basher on here will change his tune about it in a few years just like he did about the great replacement theory he subscribed to in the past.

We have learned that if the Amerikkkan people cannot have their burgers delivered piping hot for less than it costs in person they will collectively elect a guy who kills a million people in developing nations, so the creation of cheap burrito bots is one of the stronger moral obligations out there
Just as you thought food delivery companies couldn't inflict any more misery on society:

Instead of using lowly-paid gig economy contractors to deliver groceries, they're replacing humans with robots, who, in turn, force humans off the pavement into road traffic.

It is not remotely true that post-2008 crash safeguards have been torn to shreds, the banking and financial system is extremely robust right now (it absorbed a trillion of MTM losses and only nerds noticed), and outside private credit being sold to rich dentists there isn’t much repackaging going on

some nations and peoples value their freedom, others do not.
So Ukraine can get rid of their scheming viziers in the middle of an existential conflict but we still have to listen to Stephen Miller’s daily renditions of the Nuremberg Rally.

This is such bullshit.

Wrote this up on a comment thread at FB and decided to bring it over here too. Happy US Thanksgiving— or, as some of my Canadian friends call it, Yanksgiving, which is even more appropriate than they intend because it really is a Yankee holiday.

Lots of people think this is fine: manly, bold, “genuine,” “telling it like it is.“. Lots of people will approve.

Shitty people, shitty values, shitty culture.

one fascinating thing that I can’t get out of my head about the last X years is how much of our politics revolves around inter-republican fights (former, present, RINO, MAGA whatever). eg: when a GOP president gets elected they appoint republicans (sec defense, FBI director, Fed chair).
