The utterly shameless & widely covered "report" out today, claiming net zero will "cost" £9tn is based on:

* Assuming free fossil-fuel energy, free petrol cars, free gas boilers, free gas power plants etc

AND

* Including climate damages in the "cost" of net zero

I kid you not, it is that stupid
🧵A political/media guide to the "truth" about net-zero

1) Add up costs to install & run a net-zero energy system
2) Pretend fossil-fuelled alternatives wld be free
3) Do say "eco zealots are bankrupting us"
4) Don't say "free cars if we scrap net-zero" cos it sounds ridiculous
5) That's it!

I don't know how to say these things anymore but I've had these thoughts (esp about Musk) before.

When I see something like this, with dude throwing up the Vulcan salute... I can't help but think about Aum's Hideo Murai.

Murai was a kind, gentle nerd who fully radicalized and did terrible things.

Please, I'm begging you, leave X if you haven't already.

Whatever false beliefs you have about why you need to stay there, are just that, false beliefs.

It's "extremely" unethical to stay there.

Any justification you have for staying there is dwarfed by the harm you're doing by staying.

Leave.

It was actually Democratic policians accepting funding a genocide, vilifying protesters, and Congress voting against recognizing international law that got us here.
Pray tell, what exactly is this "purity test" you speak of?

Israel and Palestine?

That's what got us in this shit we're in now. Where's THEIR "purity test?"

They allowed this administration to takeover so how "pure" are they?
Democratic voters have a decision to make in every primary, both in the midterms and in 2028.

Folks need to “purity test” candidates. Period.

Look at what policies candidates stand for and look at their donors.

This moment is not for politicians without a spine.

so this is pretty clearly “tying what’s happening with ICE back to kitchen table issues” but in stronger, less fusty language, which I actually think is fine. sometimes that’s what you need. it’s a funny game.
AOC: I want everybody to understand that the cuts to your health care are what’s paying for this. You get screwed over to pay a bunch of thugs in the street that are shooting mothers in the face.

My sleep has been wrecked since Renee Good was killed. Minority Leader Jeffries looks rested and relaxed.

A reporter asks about a practical measure like restricting ICE funding. Jeffries tells us that ICE should be acting better, not even paying lip service to taking action. Thanks! So helpful!
Q: Is it your posture to put restrictions on ICE as a condition for funding DHS?

JEFFRIES: Renee Good should be alive. There was no justification. There are common sense measures that need to put in place so ICE can conduct itself in manner at least consistent w/ every other law enforcement agency

That Grok still has payment processing, when everyone I know — artist or gamer or adult creator —lives in constant fear of deplatforming and debanking over the mere hint of impropriety, is utterly mind-blowing.
Some Grok users, mostly men, began to demand to see bruising on the bodies of the women, and for blood to be added to the images. Requests to show women tied up and gagged were instantly granted.
